  • Publication number: 20170187699
Abstract: An example method of establishing an authenticated session between two communicating devices includes establishing, by a first processor of a first device, a secure connection with a second device over the network using a communications protocol; receiving, by the first processor, an identity authentication request from the second device; passing, by the first processor, the identity authentication request to a second processor located on an authentication chip of the first device; generating, by the second processor using one or more authentication code functions stored on the authentication chip, one or more authentication codes using a unique serial number of the first device and an authentication key, both stored on the authentication chip; providing, by the second processor, the one or more generated authentication codes to the first processor; and sending, by the first processor, a response to the second device that includes the one or more generated authentication codes.

  • Publication number: 20160142514
Abstract: A formula-driven programming-environment is described, which may be used to provide an environment for applications to operate within a network node or other computing device. In one example, statements of a program may be interpreted to thereby execute formula-style commands within an address space defined and constrained in a memory device by the integrated development environment. The commands may obtain data, assign values to variables and access data from other node(s) by the interpretation of statements in the program and communicating over a network. The communicating may include queuing a message for transmission by the formula-driven programming-environment. The commands may provide named access or relative access to data in response to the interpretation of statements in the program. The commands may communicate with at least one application located on a remote computing device in response to the interpretation of statements in the program.

  • Publication number: 20150128213
Abstract: In a communications network, policies are applied to electronic mail messages by determining a plurality of routes for electronic mail messages, each route being defined by at least one sender and at least one recipient, and determining a policy to be applied to electronic mail messages on each route. At least one tag is associated with each of a plurality of servers in the communications network, and at least one of the tags is associated with each of the plurality of routes. Each of the plurality of servers identifies the or each route that is associated with a tag that is associated with the server, and then applies the respective policy to electronic mail messages on the or each identified route. This allows policy to be defined on the basis of the role of the server and the policy features that it supports.

  • Publication number: 20110149252
Abstract: Structures for reducing the effect of charged surfaces near the electrodes on the performance efficiency of an electrohydrodynamic (EHD) device are disclosed. The potential levels on surfaces of an electronic device near the EHD electrodes are varied with respect to a function of the combination of distance from the emitter and the distance from the collector. The potential levels may be constant, may vary in discrete steps, may be continuously variable along the length between the EHD electrodes and beyond the electrodes, and may vary with respect to time.

  • Patent number: 7543541
Abstract: A membrane connector (1) has a generally annular body (2) having an interior region (8). An elongate projection (10) projects from the body into the interior region (8). In use, the body (2) is attached to a membrane (14) such as a yacht sail and allows a fastener such as a rope to be attached to the membrane, via the connector (1), to control or secure the membrane. The fastener typically comprises a loop of flexible material (18, 24) which may be easily placed over the projection (10) so that force can be applied to the membrane in a direction that is generally coincident with a longitudinal axis of the projection. The connector (1) allows membranes such as sails to be easily and quickly taken down and reset and has no moving parts so it is not prone to failure.

  • Publication number: 20060109273
Abstract: An interactive multi-media information and communication system translates an intelligible data stream with discrete elements into one or more logically derived output data streams. The discrete data elements are analyzed by real-time dictionary look-up processing procedures to determine context, application and rule settings. The outcome of the analysis is used to determine if the input data element is to be discarded, or if one or more output elements are to be selected and presented in one or more output data streams.

  • Publication number: 20050027957
Abstract: A method of protecting memory locations in an embedded system using a write filter. The method includes the steps of starting a write filter that intercepts writes to the protected memory locations and stores the writes in a cache; starting a state machine with a change state and a normal state; upon starting the state machine, entering the change state when an indication is present that data needs to be persisted to the protected memory otherwise entering the normal state; in the normal state identifying critical writes to the protected memory and creating at least one update file containing the changes in such writes; and in the change state, applying the changes in the update file and rebooting the system in a manner that persists the changes to the protected memory.
