Abstract: One embodiment provides a system of distributing digital content from a first party to a second party over a network. The system includes an interface to receive by the second party from the first party a digital content package including a digital content and its header. The header provides Digital Rights Management (DRM) information and payment information for the digital content. The system also includes a payment module to receive a payment from the second party based on the received payment information. The system further includes an authorization module, after receiving the payment, to allow the second party to play the digital content under restrictions described in the received DRM. In some embodiments, the system may also include a preview module to allow the second party to preview the digital content for a predetermined number of times or for a predetermined length of time.

Abstract: This document discusses, among other things, an example system and methods for connecting a client and a resource. Example embodiments may include receiving a request from a client computer, for a connection to a generically named resource that is associated with multiple resources. In response to the request, example embodiments may further include detecting whether one of the multiple resources is overloaded and determining a number of static connections reserved for the client computer. A static or dynamic connection may be assigned to the resource or a further one of the multiple resources based on the generic resource name, the load on the resource and the number of static connections reserved for the client computer.

Abstract: Embodiments of an associated community platform are shown. Some embodiments comprise a receiver residing on a server to receive data from one or more nodes that are apart of a merchant network, a calculator residing on the server to calculate a score based upon the data, a mapper residing on the server to map the score to an assessment score, and a alerter residing on a server to alert where a threshold value is exceed by the mapping of the score to the assessment score. Additionally, a method embodiment is illustrated comprising receiving data from one or more nodes that are apart of a merchant network, calculating a score based upon the data, mapping the score to an assessment score, and alerting where a threshold value is exceed by the mapping of the score to the assessment score. Algorithms may be implemented to determine the existence of links in network.

Abstract: An inventory number identifier may be associated with an item number of an inventory account within a system inventory. The inventory number identifier may indicate a number of units of the item available for purchase according to the inventory account of a user. The inventory number identifier may be selected for inclusion among one or more selected identifiers for advertisement generation. An advertisement including the selected identifiers for the item may be generated. The advertisement may be made available within a first system for an item in an inventory account of a user of a second system. The inventory number identifier of the advertisement may be updated by accessing the inventory account of the user. The advertisement may then be displayed within the first system.

Abstract: A method and system to efficiently allocate connections between computer systems in a network are provided. The method and system include determining the type of connections, namely static and dynamic, to be provided for a system. The method and system further include the capability of redirecting a network connection request to a backup resource in the event that the primary resource is unable to serve the request.

Abstract: A methodology through which a host site may automatically insert relevant links into a set of text. In this methodology, the contents of the text are compared against a database containing character strings, and the character strings from the database contained in the text are identified. Each of the character strings in the database has an associated link that connects to other webpages on the same website or other websites. For each character string of the database found in the contents of the text, the associated link is inserted into the text. In this way, only relevant links are inserted into the text.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system is operable to: serve an advertisement from a merchant site on a content site; receive a user click event from the content site in response to the advertisement; receive information indicative of a user purchase request on the merchant site; correlate the user click event with the user purchase request; and perform a value transfer with the content site in response to the correlation of the user click event with the user purchase request.

Abstract: A method and system to conduct financial transactions over a communication network is provided. Data associated with a mobile communication device user is received and stored, and a user mobile airtime account is allocated to the user. A purchase request is received from the user via a mobile communication device, the purchase request being for a purchase from a merchant for a purchase amount. The communication network provides the user access to the network to make the purchase request without debiting a financial account of the user or the user mobile airtime account for the access to the communication network. A payment service provider now automatically debits the financial account of the user with the purchase amount, automatically allocates a service fee which is associated with the purchase amount to the mobile service provider and credits an account of the mobile service provider with the service fee.

Abstract: A system and method to provide feedback data within a distributed feedback system of an e-commerce system. Feedback data describing e-commerce transactions are generated by buyers of goods and services and the corresponding sellers of these goods and services. The feedback data is stored and maintained within a set of feedback servers organized into a peer-to-peer network of distributed devices. The feedback data is organized into groupings of feedback data that are stored onto database storage associated with each of the P2P network nodes. Buyers and sellers may search the feedback data from these distributed data sources to obtain reputation data associated with parties with which they propose to enter into new transactions for goods and services.

Abstract: A method and system to display a pop-up window when a user leaves a website are disclosed. A user accesses a website with a web browser. When a web page from the website is loaded into the user's browser, a client-side variable is set to a particular value, such as the current time. When the web page from the website is unloaded from the browser, a hidden pop-up window is loaded. The hidden pop-up window is programmed to sleep and then check the value of the client-side variable. A change in the value of the client-side variable indicates a new web page from the same web server has been loaded into the web browser and the user has not left the website. However, if a web page from a different web server is loaded into the browser, then the value of the client-side variable remains unchanged. Consequently, when the hidden pop-up window awakes and checks the value of the client-side variable, the pop-up window can determine whether the user has left the original website.
