  • Patent number: 11678313
Abstract: A base station requires one or more channels in an unlicensed frequency band for a predetermined time interval and schedules one or more user equipment for uplink transmission on the one or more channels during the predetermined time interval. User equipment transmits, over a licensed frequency band, a request for resources for uplink transmission in an unlicensed frequency band. The user equipment receives scheduling information indicating a first portion of a predetermined time interval that is allocated to the first user equipment for uplink transmission on one or more channels in the unlicensed frequency band.

  • Patent number: 11101920
Abstract: A transmitting device performs a channel assessment in a previous sub-frame in an unlicensed carrier. After a successful channel assessment, the transmitting device starts a data transmission. The transmitting device transmits a control message for indicating the data transmission in (E)PDCCH. The control message may include the starting time of the data transmission and/or at least one transmission characteristic in the previous sub-frame. The transmission device may transmit an initial control message for indicating a potential data transmission being started in the sub-frame in which the initial control message is transmitting. Method and apparatus enable (E)CCA to take place at any time, and data transmission to start earlier than the next sub-frame boundary after a successful completion of (E)CCA, thus improving the data transmission capacity, especially in circumstances when the maximum length of transmission is constrained.

  • Patent number: 10686553
Abstract: A radio station (100) receives a first signal (R) indicative of a scheduled resource which will be used to transmit a second signal (D1, D2) to the radio station (100). In response to receiving the first signal (R), the radio station (100) is adapted to receive the second signal (D1, D2) using the scheduled resource and, prior to receiving the second signal (D1, D2), transmit an indication of received signal quality (CQI).

  • Patent number: 10645709
Abstract: A packet data transmission system comprises primary stations (PS) having signal transmitting and receiving means and antennas (PA1 to PA4) for propagating downlink signals and receiving uplink signals and a plurality of secondary stations (SS) able to roam within the coverage areas of the primary stations. Each secondary station (SS1) has signal transmitting and receiving means, a predetermined number of antennas (SA1 to SA4), and means for monitoring its radio environment. Information about the radio environment is relayed as an uplink signal to the respective primary station which modifies its mode of transmission of packet data signals. The secondary station in response to the modified mode of transmission of the downlink signals adapts its receiver resources to process the packet data signals and effect cancellation of any interference.

  • Patent number: 10038537
Abstract: A method is provided for receiving, at a receiving device, a control information message from a transmitting device. An example method includes determining at a user equipment (UE) a status of the UE and monitoring at the UE based on the status either a common search space (CSS) of a cell or a UE-specific search space (USS) of the cell. The cell is a cell of a secondary eNodeB for communicating with the UE. The method may further include monitoring a CSS and a USS of a cell of a master eNodeB (MeNB) simultaneously while monitoring either the CSS or the USS of the cell of the secondary eNodeB. The status may be a status of the UE with respect to a Random Access Channel (RACH) procedure with the cell.

  • Patent number: 10004088
Abstract: In UMTS WCDMA a new RACH-based uplink is being discussed. The resources defined for this new “E-RACH” need to be signalled to the UE. This should avoid disturbing the signalling to existing terminals, i.e. that are not aware of E-RACH. This could be done for E-RACH by repeating the kind of signalling defined for R99 RACH and transmitted on the BCH (Broadcast Control Channel). However, this would imply a significant extra load on the BCH, which is undesirable. The invention is based on the recognition that E-DCH resources can be defined efficiently at least partly with reference to the R99 RACH resources. This can be done in such a way that no additional signalling is required on the BCH.

  • Patent number: 9853778
Abstract: A communication system comprises a downlink indicator channel for the transmission of an indicator signal indicating that a data packet is scheduled to be transmitted on a downlink data channel from a primary station to a secondary station. In operation, on detection of the indicator signal, the secondary station transmits a status signal, for example a negative acknowledgement signal, on an uplink channel to the primary station immediately before transmission of a positive or negative acknowledgement signal to indicate the status of the received data packet. By providing the primary station with two chances to detect the case where the secondary station fails to detect the indicator signal, peak power requirements of the uplink channel can be reduced, thereby reducing system interference levels.

  • Patent number: RE46960
Abstract: A communication system, such as UMTS, comprises a scheduler (12) in a first station (PS) which is able to control a user equipment (UE1, UE2). The scheduler when operating in a data transmission mode, such as HSUPA (High-Speed Uplink Packet Access) controls the user equipment with combinations of absolute grants (AG) and relative grants (RG). The relative grants serve to adapt a transmission parameter relative to a reference value. The reference value for the relative grant is selected dependent on a property of one or more of the grants. Such a property may comprise the absolute grant being an all process grant or a single process grant.
