  • Publication number: 20160094314
Abstract: In one embodiment, the method includes first determining, at a device, whether a data packet is successfully decoded after a first number of data packet repetitions have been received. Here, the first number is less than a total number of data packet repetitions to be sent to the device. The method further includes first sending, by the device, an acknowledgement if the first determining determines the data packet was successfully decoded, the first sending occurring before the total number of data packet repetitions has been received.

  • Publication number: 20160073419
Abstract: A packet data transmission system comprises primary stations (PS) having signal transmitting and receiving means and antennas (PA1 to PA4) for propagating downlink signals and receiving uplink signals and a plurality of secondary stations (SS) able to roam within the coverage areas of the primary stations. Each secondary station (SS1) has signal transmitting and receiving means, a predetermined number of antennas (SA1 to SA4), and means for monitoring its radio environment. Information about the radio environment is relayed as an uplink signal to the respective primary station which modifies its mode of transmission of packet data signals. The secondary station in response to the modified mode of transmission of the downlink signals adapts its receiver resources to process the packet data signals and effect cancellation of any interference.

  • Patent number: 9281956
Abstract: A radio communication station in a radio communication system having a plurality of radio communication devices, derives a quantization parameter from control indications received from respective radio communication devices and transmits the quantization parameter to the radio communication devices on at least one downlink channel. The radio communication devices receive the quantization parameter, determine respective channel state metrics for the downlink channel, respectively quantize the determined respective channel state metrics by applying quantization ranges indicated by the quantization parameter, determine respective control indications indicative of the respective quantized channel state metrics, and transmit to the radio communication station respective signals indicating the determined respective control indications as respective random access transmissions on an uplink channel.

  • Publication number: 20160029288
Abstract: A radio communication system comprises a communication channel for the transmission of data packets from a primary station having a plurality of antennas to a secondary station having at least one antenna. The channel comprises a plurality of paths, and the primary station transmits a plurality of packets substantially simultaneously. Each of the plurality of packets is transmitted via a different subset of the plurality of paths, for example by arranging for each packet to be transmitted via a different antenna or antenna beam. The secondary station receives the plurality of data packets, determines whether each packet is received correctly and signals this determination (typically as an acknowledgement or a negative acknowledgement to the primary station for each of the plurality of packets. The signalling may be by any convenient means, for example transmitting each acknowledgement or negative acknowledgement via a different subset of available uplink paths.

  • Patent number: 9203581
Abstract: In a radio communication system (100, 200) using a channel divided into a plurality of time slots, a control signal is transmitted in each time slot and a data signal is transmitted intermittently using a subset of the time slots. The control signal includes a portion which is a predetermined signal, such as a pilot signal, and one or more bits constituting a power control command. The format of the control signal is adapted according to whether or not data is transmitted in the same time slot. When data is not being transmitted, the proportion of the control signal which constitutes a power control command is increased and the energy of the control signal is reduced, at least by reducing the energy of the predetermined signal portion.
