  • Publication number: 20080248801
Abstract: Accesses to locally-relevant and contextually-relevant services information within a mobile communications environment are enabled. The solutions include an improved location determination in which a first mobile communications device processes location information broadcast by other devices via short-range wireless signals to determine its approximate location. The described solutions include a context-based selection of the most relevant of a set of locally-available services, including filtering services according to whether the first mobile device is currently moving and filtering according to a personal profile of the device user.

  • Publication number: 20080034917
Abstract: An automatic balancing device for counterbalancing an out-of-balance mass includes a plurality of counterbalancing masses, each of which is movable in a circular path about the axis so as to generate a balancing force. The balancing forces combine to produce a resultant balancing force which varies between minimum and maximum values. At a first speed of rotation of the body about the axis, the movement of at least one of the counterbalancing masses is restrained so that a substantially constant, non-zero resultant balancing force is produced, the resultant balancing force being freely movable about the axis. At a second speed of rotation of the body about the axis, the counterbalancing masses are free to adopt a position in which the out-of-balance mass is counterbalanced. The device allows at least partial counterbalancing of the out-of-balance mass at speeds below the critical speed of the system in which it is used.

  • Publication number: 20080003467
Abstract: The air blower (18) of a fuel cell power plant (9) is used to force water out of the coolant flow fields (27) of a fuel cell stack (10), a coolant pump (35) and a heat exchanger (40) through a valve (46) which is closed during normal operation. The water removal occurs as part of a shutdown procedure in which the fuel cell stack continues to operate so that it provides the power for the air pump and to assist in water removal (such as retaining low vapor pressure). The water flow to an accumulator (33) is blocked by a valve (29) during the shutdown procedure.

  • Publication number: 20070068678
Abstract: A technique facilitates joining of coiled tubing sections. A framework has one or more movable stands with features designed to grip and manipulate an end of a coiled tubing section. The ability to hold and selectively move an end of a coiled tubing section or the ends of both coiled tubing sections enables an operator to easily prepare the coiled tubing ends and to couple the coiled tubing ends with a coiled tubing connector.

  • Publication number: 20070050921
Abstract: An appliance having a driving mechanism is provided including two rotatable portions which are rotatable by the driving mechanism about an axis. The driving mechanism includes a gearbox having an input gear, two output gears and a locking mechanism movable between a first position and a second position. The arrangement is such that, when the locking mechanism is in the first position and the input gear is driven, both output gears rotate in the same direction and, when the locking mechanism is in the second position and the input gear is driven, the output gears rotate in opposite directions. The arrangement of the axis is horizontal or substantially horizontal. The invention is particularly suitable for use in a front-loading washing machine having a drum including two rotatable portions. The driving mechanism can be used to selectively cause rotation of the rotatable portions either in the same direction or in opposite directions.
