  • Patent number: 8979060
Abstract: A device holder for retaining an electronic device is disclosed. The device holder may generally include an inner member and an outer member. The inner member may include a back wall and first and second inner sidewalls extending from the back wall so as to define an inner slot configured to receive at least a portion of the electronic device. The outer member may be configured to receive at least a portion of the inner member and may include a first outer sidewall configured to be disposed adjacent to the first inner sidewall and a second outer sidewall configured to be disposed adjacent to the second inner sidewall. When the electronic device is received within the inner slot, at least a portion of the first inner sidewall may be configured to be deformed between the electronic device and the first outer sidewall and at least a portion second inner sidewall may be configured to be deformed between the electronic device and the second outer sidewall.

  • Patent number: 8971023
Abstract: A device is configured to be worn on a user's head. In one aspect, the device includes a center frame support and first and second side arms. Each side arm has a first end connecting to the center frame support and a free end remote from the first end. The device also includes an extension arm that projects from one of the side arms in a direction proximate the center frame support. The extension arm is configured to present information to the user via a display device. The center frame support and the first and second side arms form a band worn on the user's head. In one embodiment, the free end of the first side arm is elongated relative to the free end of the second side arm to form an asymmetric U shape. In another embodiment, a removable or adjustable nose bridge couples to the center frame support.

  • Patent number: 8968012
Abstract: A connection cable for use with a wearable electronic device includes a first end unit configured to connect with an electronic component and a second end unit. The second end unit has a housing with a connection end configured to connect with a connection feature of an extension arm of the device and a support end spaced apart from the connection end. The housing is configured such that, when the connection end is connected with the connection feature, the support end, the first end of a band of the device, and a nosepiece of the device define at least three points of contact along a plane spaced apart from the surface of the extension arm with the second end unit disposed between the surface of the extension arm and the plane. The cable also includes a cable body extending between the first end unit and the second end unit.

  • Patent number: 8958158
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure describe on-head detection processes for HMD devices that include at least one lens, an optical sensor positioned in front of the lens to detect light reflected from the lens, at least one image source positioned in front of the lens, and a frame assembly to support the lens and the image source for wearing on a head of the user, wherein the frame assembly comprises a flexible frame assembly to flex such that the optical sensor moves closer to the at least one lens when the HMD is worn by the user. In some embodiments, the optical sensor is positioned to also detect a reflected light from the user's face. The light received by the optical sensor is stronger when the user is wearing the HMD, and thus embodiments determine whether the user is wearing the HMD based on the optical sensor data.

  • Publication number: 20140366786
Abstract: The present invention provides a seed blend comprising pesticidal seed and refuge seed, wherein plants grown from said pesticidal seed type do not pollinate plants grown from said refuge seed type when the seed blend is planted. In some embodiments, the refuge crop reproductively matures at a different time relative to the time at which the pesticidal crop reproductively matures. Methods for deploying the seed blend and for reducing cross-pollination between plants grown from the pesticidal seed and refuge seed are also provided.

  • Patent number: 8818464
Abstract: A case for a device includes a plurality of walls defining a cavity and an opening to the cavity. A first one of the walls is opposite the opening and is configured as a support surface to support a portion of a first housing of the device and also has a first recess therein configured to receive a portion of at least a first end of a band of the device. A second one of the walls defines an edge of the opening that is configured to extend along a center support of the band with the optical element of the device being positioned between the second one of the walls and the support surface when the device is received in the cavity. The case also includes a lid configured to cover the opening and to selectively enclose the interior cavity.
