  • Patent number: 6602424
Abstract: To increase the safety of an extracorporeal blood treatment machine which has control of the ultrafiltration rate as a function of the blood volume of the patient, the ultrafiltration rate UFR(t) during the treatment is monitored in a safety device. The safety device has a computer unit for determining an upper limit for the ultrafiltration rate UFRlim from the predetermined total ultrafiltrate volume UFVtot and the predetermined treatment time UFT. The safety device also has a monitoring unit with which the ultrafiltration rate is limited to the upper limit determined by the computer unit so that any risk to the patient is prevented even in the case of faulty blood volume control.

  • Patent number: 6542761
Abstract: A device for measuring parameters of medical fluids having a measurement chamber through which the fluid to be measured passes. The chamber is sealed on one side by a flexible membrane, and it also has a measurement plate that has a peripheral seal on its outer edge and is in contact with the flexible membrane. At least one sensor for measuring a parameter of the medical fluid is mounted on the measurement plate, and the measurement plate has a continuous inlet leading to the flexible membrane so that a vacuum can be established between the measurement plate and the flexible membrane.

  • Publication number: 20030045827
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for determining the concentration of an ion, atom or molecule bound in a complex. A reliable determination of the concentration of the ion, atom or molecule to be determined is possible in accordance with the invention in that the complexing of the ion, atom or molecule is prevented at least during the determination of the concentration by the addition or withdrawal of a substance.

  • Patent number: 6187098
Abstract: A powder coating cabin includes a column-like housing defining an interior space between a ceiling and a bottom, with the bottom being substantially of flat configuration, and a coating unit arranged on the housing for spraying powder onto an object. The powder coating unit is further provided with a cleaning unit which is so received in the housing as to be movable between a stand-by position in which the cleaning unit is arranged at least partially underneath the bottom and an operative phase for automatically cleaning at least the inner wall surfaces of the housing, whereby the bottom is suitably so designed as to clear a passage for the cleaning unit.

  • Patent number: 6173693
Abstract: A cylinder head has an intake port with an intake valve for selectively closing the intake port at an end thereof at an intake valve seat. The intake port has a substantially circular cross section in an area adjacent the intake valve seat. The intake port cross section transitions from the substantially circular cross-section at the intake valve seat, into a substantially oblong cross-section.
