For each of the groups the method further comprises: segmenting the assigned information bits in the group into one or more code blocks; encoding each code block into coded bits; and assigning the coded bits of the one or more code blocks to the group of modulation symbols the information bits are assigned to.

In particular embodiments, the design parameters of the channel code limit the maximum code block size to Kmax for any code rate. The determined maximum code block size may be limited by code rate and Nmax such that the maximum code block size does not exceed code rate times Nmax.

In some embodiments, a method for a wireless device in a wireless communications system comprises receiving control information comprising information pertaining to whether the wireless device should partially clear a soft buffer for a HARQ process, deciding whether to partially clear the soft buffer for the HARQ process based on the information comprised in the control information, and partially clearing the soft buffer for the HARQ process upon deciding to partially clear the soft buffer for the HARQ process. In this manner, corrupted soft information can be cleared from the soft buffer while retaining uncorrupted soft information in the soft buffer.

In some embodiments, the proposed solution helps the UE handle collisions between transmissions using legacy TTI in UL and overlapping transmissions using short TTI in UL. In some embodiments, this is accomplished by a wireless device adapted for uplink transmissions using a first TTI or a second TTI where the second TTI is shorter than the first TTI. The method includes altering at least one transmission of a first transmission using the first TTI and a second transmission using the second TTI based on a determination that a collision is to occur between the first transmission and the second transmission.

    Abstract: According to one aspect of the teachings herein, a base station (20) schedules the transmission of uplink reference signals by a wireless device (16) separately from scheduling uplink data transmissions by the device (16). The separate scheduling may be done at specific times, under specific conditions, and with respect to specific devices (16) or groups of devices (16). Separate scheduling allows, for example, the base station (20) to use smaller scheduling intervals that are possible when uplink reference signals are integrally included in any scheduled uplink data transmission. As a further advantage, the density or number of uplink reference signal transmissions by a given device (16) can be adapted, e.g., based on channel conditions, data transmission formats, etc.
