  • Patent number: 6267378
Abstract: A piece-bouncing game wherein each player seeks to propel a play piece to make it bounce on a playing surface and then travel in a trajectory which causes the piece to land on a flat platform. The player scores a point in the game only if the piece lands and remains on the platform. The game consists of a cylindrical dish having a flat base on which is anchored an array of plugs, the play pieces being mountable on the plugs. Each play piece is formed by a circular collar having a membrane lying across its central plane and provided with a center hole. In the storage mode of the game, in which the play pieces are stored within the dish, each plug is plugged into the center hole of the piece mounted thereon. In the active mode of the game, the pieces are taken off the plugs and the dish is inverted and placed on the playing surface whereby the base of the dish is then raised above the playing surface to serve as the platform.

  • Patent number: 5938141
Abstract: A holder for a paper towel roll in which wound about a tubular core is a band of absorbent paper sheeting divided by perforation lines into a series of interconnected towel sections. The roll is rotatably supported by the holder to permit a user to unwind the leading towel section from the roll and tear it off. To facilitate extraction of a single towel section from the roll without causing it to further unwind, a stop element is provided. The element is formed by a cap and a plug projecting therefrom, the plug being received in one end of the tubular core whereby the cap then abuts an end of the roll. In operation, as the user with one hand tears off the unwound leading section of the roll, with his other hand presses the cap of the stop element to arrest rotation of the roll and further unwinding thereof.

  • Patent number: 5904283
Abstract: A note paper sheet dispenser adapted to supply a user with a note paper sheet whose dimensions are determined by the user. The dispenser includes a rectangular base above whose rear end is mounted for rotation a strip paper roll in which the underside of the paper strip is coated with a longitudinal band of low-tack pressure-sensitive adhesive. Mounted above the base is an endless conveyer belt which runs between a motor-driven roller adjacent the paper roll and an idler roller adjacent the front end of the base. When the motor is energized, the belt then draws paper strip from the roll along the belt to a length depending on the time period during which the motor is energized. A tear-off blade above the belt and adjacent the roll permits the length of paper strip lying in the belt to be torn off to provide a note paper sheet of the desired length that can be written on and then temporarily adhered to a document or other object.

  • Patent number: 5850126
Abstract: A screw-in LED lamp which derives its power from a socket connected to an A-C power line, the lamp being screwed into the socket to produce a light of high intensity useful as a traffic signal or as a warning signal. The lamp includes a screw-in plug connected to a regulator in which the A-C is converted to a D-C voltage which is applied to a bank of LEDs through a power transistor. The power transistor is activated by a pulse generator yielding periodic pulses having a repetition rate of about 20 pulses per second whereby the LEDs in the bank are pulse-activated to produce light flashes which because of visual persistence are seen as a steady light. Each pulse activating the LEDs has a duration of a few microseconds and a voltage magnitude producing a high current flow in each LED whose amplitude is a multiple of the normal current rating of the LED.

  • Patent number: 5649703
Abstract: A cartridge housing a cubist puzzle game having a set of polycube pieces and a deck of playing cards associated with the set. Each polycube piece is formed by at least three like cubes joined together in a common plane in various ways to define the geometry of the pieces. When these piecess are intermeshed in a common plane, they then form a rectangular pad. When otherwise interfitted, the polycube pieces then create multiplanar cubist figures whose configuration depend on how the pieces are interfitted. Each playing card displays on one face a reproduction of a particular cubist figure which constitutes a puzzle in that the relationship between the interfitting pieces is not apparent in the reproduction. The opposite face of the card displays this relationship and, therefore, a solution to the puzzle. The cartridge is provided with a rectangular frame divided into a first open compartment for accommodating the pad of pieces and an opposing second open compartment for accommodating the deck of cards.
