  • Patent number: 4009701
Abstract: A device heats the fuel-air mixture by means of the exhaust in an internal combustion engine having an intake for the fuel-air mixture and an exhaust gas line, with a portion of the intake and a portion of the exhaust line having a common wall for heat transfer.

  • Patent number: 4005953
Abstract: A piston of a rotary piston engine of trochoid type including an internal seal with a scraper ring of L-shaped cross section arranged axially movable in a concentric annular groove in one end wall of the piston and pressed with spring action against the adjacent end wall of the housing. The scraper ring is sealed off inside the annular groove by an elastic sealing ring arranged between the axial flange of the scraper ring and at least one wall of the groove. The elastic sealing ring consist of two closed metal rings immediately adjacent to each other and having their outer periphery in sealing and axially displaceable contact with the radial flange of the scraper ring. The rings are inserted with a radial play between their inner periphery and the radial inner wall of the annular groove smaller than the radial play between the axial flange and the radial outer wall of the groove.

  • Patent number: 3990817
Abstract: A rotary combustion engine comprising a housing having an inner trochoidal surface and a rotor mounted within the housing and having apex portions having sealing cooperation with said trochoidal surface to form a plurality of working chambers therebetween and in which said trochoidal surface is modified at least in the region at the ends of its minor axis by displacing said surface outwardly in this region to avoid the usual crest in each of these regions and further in which the rotor periphery is modified so that it is substantially the inner envelope of this modified trochoidal surface.

  • Patent number: 3939655
Abstract: A rotary piston four-stroke internal combustion engine of trochoid type includes a housing composed of a shell and two parallel end parts together bounding an inner chamber in which a polygonal position is rotatably mounted. Inlet and outlet passages are provided in the housing for supply of air or fresh gas and for ejection of burned gases, respectively. The inlet passage is connected with an intake duct and the outlet passage with an exhaust gas reactor. A line containing a valve leads from the region of the inner chamber in which compression takes place to the exhaust gas reactor.

  • Patent number: RE28714
Abstract: The invention relates to an internal seal for rotary piston combustion engines of the trochoid type in which a housing consisting of two end pieces and a multiarcuate shell contains a polygonal piston rotatably mounted on an eccentric. At least one sealing ring conconcentric with the piston axis of rotation is disposed in a recess of the piston in each of its two end faces. The ring is pressed by spring means against the adjoining end piece and is sealingly and slidably engaged therewith to prevent passage of coolant or lubricant into the working chambers. The seal between the sealing ring and a wall of the recess in the end face of the piston is effected by an elastic ring.
