  • Publication number: 20150378439
Abstract: A position within displayed digital content that a user is ocularly focused on (e.g., where within displayed content the user is looking) may be determined. Digital content comprising a visual indication of the position may be rendered. The visual indication of the position may be displayed on the same display that the user is looking at and/or a different display. In some embodiments, the position may be determined based on data generated by a sensor physically attached to the user. Additionally or alternatively, the position may be determined based on data generated by a stationary computing device comprising a sensor configured to track changes in ocular position of the user. In some embodiments the digital content may comprise digital images and/or video (e.g., broadcast content, on-demand content, images and/or video associated with a computer application, or the like).

  • Publication number: 20150134470
Abstract: A self-checkout shopping system improves the retail shopping experience, permitting the self-serve customer to perform checkout tasks that are typically performed at the retailer's checkout area as the customer is selecting items for purchase. The system includes a mobile computer device and an indicia reader. The customer uses the mobile computer device to scan items selected for purchase. The item numbers are then compiled onto a list of acquired merchandise. When the customer has finished shopping, the system transmits the list of acquired merchandise, and any additional information such as customer financial information, to a point-of-sale terminal to facilitate the customer's payment for the merchandise.

  • Publication number: 20150060593
Abstract: The present invention relates to a missile or aircraft with a hierarchical, modular, closed-loop flow control system and more particularly to aircraft or missile with a flow control system for enhanced aerodynamic control, maneuverability and stabilization, and to a method of operating the flow control system. Various embodiments of the present invention involve different elements including flow sensors, active flow control device or activatable flow effectors and logic devices with closed loop control architecture. The sensors are used to estimate or determine flow conditions on the various surfaces of a missile or aircraft. The active flow control device or activatable flow effectors create on-demand flow disturbances, preferably micro-disturbances, at different points along the various aerodynamic surfaces of the missile or aircraft to achieve a desired stabilization or maneuverability effect.

  • Patent number: 8859222
Abstract: Methods and compositions for detection of microbial contaminants in peritoneal dialysis solutions are provided. A novel cause of aseptic peritonitis is provided—aseptic peritonitis associated with gram positive microbial contamination of a dialysis solution. Peptidoglycan is a major component of a gram positive bacterial cell wall and thus can serve as a marker for gram positive bacteria. In this regard, testing for peptidoglycans can be utilized to effectively prevent peritonitis in patients that use the peritoneal dialysis solutions, such as peritoneal dialysis solutions that contain a glucose polymer including an icodextrin and the like.

  • Patent number: 8809755
Abstract: The present invention relates to an aircraft, missile, projectile or underwater vehicle with an improved control system, an improved control system and a method of maneuvering an aircraft, missile, projectile or underwater vehicle. More particularly, the present invention relates to an aircraft, missile, projectile or underwater vehicle with control surfaces that are movable along a track. The present invention further relates to a method of controlling a aircraft, missile, projectile or underwater vehicle using such a control system. One of the technical advantages of the control system on a track (or “tracked control surface”) over other aircraft, missile, projectile or underwater vehicle control systems is that the tracked control surface system enables the aircraft, missile, projectile or underwater vehicle to have an unlimited number of configurations, each configuration being tailored to the specific stability or maneuverability requirements during a specific portion of the flight.

  • Publication number: 20140053946
Abstract: A loose material measuring and dispensing system including a container and dispenser. The tea container serves to store the tea leaves or grounds in a storage bin prior to activation of the system. Upon activation, the dispenser measures and loads a selected amount of tea into a hopper for dispensing, such as into a waiting cup or a tea infuser. The amount of tea may be selected based upon user operation of one of a number of quantity indicating/selection buttons provided in a user interface. The container is a sealed canister, such as a bag or jug, which is preferably impermeable to light. Furthermore, the dispenser is able to operate to load a desired amount of tea (e.g. by weight), specified by the user, into the hopper. Once the desired amount of tea is loaded into the hopper, the tea may be dispensed, such as into a waiting cup or infuser below.
