  • Patent number: 4445010
Abstract: There is disclosed a rotary switch assembly which comprises a lamp support plate adapted to accommodate a plurality of switchable lamps. A power contact and a detent plate is positioned above the lamp plate and contains spring loaded power contacts which coact with terminals associated with the lamp support plate to enable energization of any selected one of said plurality of lamps. The power contact and detent plate further includes spring loaded detents which cooperate with detent recesses on the lamp support plate to assure optical alignment. These spring loaded detents are positioned approximately opposite to the power contacts and exert counter balancing forces to assure low shaft friction as the lamp support plate is rotated during lamp selection.

  • Patent number: 4410929
Abstract: A linear switch assembly comprises a planar plate secured to the inner wall of a housing for a light source. A carriage member has a first slot positioned within the edge of the plate member and a second shorter slot on a top adjacent surface. The plate has an extending rigid rod positioned within the second slot to allow the carriage to move along the plate member in a linear direction. Associated with the carriage member are first and second lamp assemblies each having an associated actuatable switch. As the carriage is moved the rod coacts with an operating lever associated with each switch to actuate the switch when the associated lamp assembly is moved into a proper position whereby power is supplied to each lamp assembly only when at the proper operating position.

  • Patent number: 4309262
Abstract: An improved hydrazine analyzer is disclosed wherein sample and electrolyte solutions are supplied from constant flow rate sources into a mixing chamber where they are premixed. The premixed combination of electrolyte and sample is then passed through a sensing chamber having a sensing thimble disposed therein. The thimble is of a porous material having a platinum wire electrode wound about the outside thereof and having a silver wire inserted into silver chloride salt on the inside thereof to form a reference half cell. As the electrolyte-sample mixture passes through the sensing chamber, a portion of the fluid passes from the outside of the thimble to the inside of the thimble wetting the silver chloride salt to establish electrical contact and provide the internal filling solution of the reference half cell.

  • Patent number: 4184384
Abstract: A piston crankshaft connecting rod includes a column having a piston wrist pin engaging bearing collar at one end and a crankpin engaging split bearing collar at the opposite end, the split collar being releaseably locked in assembled condition by a flexible metal band encircling the outer section of the split collar and either the split collar inner section or the full column including the wrist pin collar or another portion of the connecting rod. The band is longitudinally medially slotted at opposite ends and the separate arms are looped, the loops engaging pins on tapped and smooth bored coupling members engaged by a bolt so that contraction and separation between the band ends may be effected by turning the bolt. The inner split collar is integrallly formed with the column or is cradled in a saddle formed at the column end.

  • Patent number: 4018089
Abstract: Improved apparatus for bringing a fluid in a process stream in contact with a sensor is disclosed. The present invention uses the kinetic energy of the process fluid to convey some of the fluid to and from the sensor, as opposed to the prior art practice of inserting the sensor itself into the process fluid stream. A nozzle is placed into the process fluid stream facing into the direction of flow. A small portion of the flowing process fluid is trapped by the nozzle and some of its kinetic energy is converted to pressure. This pressure causes a flow from the nozzle into a conduit through an open valve to the sensor. The fluid continues past the sensor and returns to the process fluid stream through the same valve. In one embodiment, the path for incoming fluid and exiting fluid are separate paths. In a second embodiment, the incoming fluid and exiting fluid exist coaxially.
