  • Publication number: 20050224715
Abstract: Apparatus for protection against undesired thermal transfer comprising a printed circuit board (15), an infrared sensing device (100) electrically connected to the printed circuit board (15) by way of an electrical lead (12), and solid thermally insulating material (18, 20) between the board (15) and the device (100) and protecting that side of the device (100) facing the board (15) from thermal transfer from the board (15) to the device (100). The solid thermally insulating material (18) bounds a passageway (19) in the material (18) through which the lead (12) passes. Advantageously, the in sensing device (100) is in thermal communication with a heat sink (14) and the solid therm:ally insulating material (20) protects the heat sink (14) also against such thermal transfer from the board (15), i.e. thermal radiation from the board (15) and thermal convection currents induced by the board (15).

  • Publication number: 20050077292
Abstract: A collapsible enclosure includes a roof, a rear wall, a pair of sidewalls, a front wall, each wall having an outside and inside surface and an open bottom. The cover includes heat insulation material covering substantially all of each inside surface of each wall. A hinge pivotally mounts the roof to rear wall and a hinge pivotally mounts each side wall to the rear wall. Bolt fasteners removably attach the front wall between the side walls. A heating element is disposed within the housing. The front wall includes an upper panel and a lower panel mounted together by a hinge in a manner to allow the upper panel to be foldable outwardly and downwardly to position the outside surface of the upper panel against the outside surface of the lower panel.

  • Publication number: 20040263232
Abstract: A circuit comprising an active pull-up device coupled to a level shift circuit is coupled to a one-wire bus to allow communication devices coupled to the bus to better detect digital communication signals propagating through the bus. The level shift circuit provides a reference voltage signal that is typically above the circuit ground. Communication devices coupled to the bus are better able to detect digital communication signals propagating through the bus because such signals are raised above at least a portion of the noise signals on the bus.

  • Patent number: 6522919
Abstract: An iontophoresis system includes a transdermal patch for placement against the skin of a patient and a controller electrically connected to the patch. The patch includes an anode and cathode electrode, and holds an electrolyte and a medication. The controller includes a DC-DC converter circuit which generates an output voltage that is provided to the anode electrode. The controller also includes an adjustable current regulator circuit. The current regulator circuit is coupled to the cathode electrode and is adjustable to provide a desired current flow through the electrodes and the skin of the patient. The DC-DC converter circuit is responsive to the voltage drop across the electrodes and adjusts its output voltage in response to this voltage drop and changes in the impedance of the patient's skin.

  • Patent number: 6446711
Abstract: Difficulties in obtaining consistent bonds of high quality between side pieces and tubular headers (10), (12) in heat exchangers are avoided in a side piece (42) that extends between the headers (10), (12) and which has circular recesses (48) at each end (44), (46). The recesses (48) define resilient fingers (56), (58) which may separate to receive the ends of the headers (10), (12) and frictionally grasp the same, eliminating the need for fixturing at this location and assuring a strong consistent gripping of the headers (10), (12), by the end piece (42) to assure consistent bonds of high quality.

  • Patent number: 6167301
Abstract: An iontophoresis system includes a transdermal patch for placement against the skin of a patient and a controller electrically connected to the patch. The patch includes an anode and cathode electrode, and holds an electrolyte and a medication. The controller includes a DC--DC converter circuit which generates an output voltage that is provided to the anode electrode. The controller also includes an adjustable current regulator circuit. The current regulator circuit is coupled to the cathode electrode and is adjustable to provide a desired current flow through the electrodes and the skin of the patient. The DC--DC converter circuit is responsive to the voltage drop across the electrodes and adjusts its output voltage in response to this voltage drop and changes in the impedance of the patient's skin.

  • Patent number: 5786803
Abstract: A system for correcting an output device for the effects reflected ambient illumination comprises an output device, a calibration memory, a reflectivity memory, a system memory, a processor, an input device, a video card, a color display memory, and a reflection device of known reflectivity. The color display memory stores a first graphical interface and a second graphical interface. The first graphical interface displays a range of intensities of outputs that the display device can generate. The second graphical interface displays a range of hues that the display device can generate. The reflection device defines an aperture. The reflection device is compared to the first graphical interface and the second graphical interface by viewing the interfaces through the aperture. The present invention includes a method for compensating an output device for reflected ambient illumination.
