  • Publication number: 20150039517
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to purchasing content provided by a cloud-based entertainment platform and to accessing media content provided by a cloud-based entertainment platform. In one scenario, a computer system receives authentication credentials from a user. The computer system authenticates the user to the cloud-based entertainment platform using the received authentication credentials. The computer system then receives payment data from the authenticated user, where the payment data includes a tokenized QR code that contains an indication of the media items being purchased and embedded account information for both the provider of the selected media items and the user. The computer system also processes a payment transaction based on the indication of media items being purchased and the embedded account information in the tokenized QR code and, upon determining that the authenticated user has paid for a media item, transmits the purchased media item to the user.

  • Publication number: 20140310076
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to implementing targeted advertising in financial transactions. In one scenario, a computer system receives an indication that a mobile wallet user has initiated a financial transaction. The indication includes identification information that identifies the mobile wallet user. The computer system next identifies the mobile wallet user using the received identification information and generates a validation token for validating the financial transaction initiated by the mobile wallet user. The validation token includes at least one targeted advertisement for the mobile wallet user. The computer system then sends the validation token that includes the targeted advertisement to the mobile wallet user.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to providing remote healthcare services including remote diagnostics, and facilitating third-party healthcare payments. In one embodiment, a computer system receives an input including authentication credentials from a healthcare entity, and also requests assistance from another healthcare entity. The computer system authenticates the first healthcare entity using the authentication credentials, receives an input including authentication credentials from the other healthcare entity, and authenticates the other healthcare entity using these authentication credentials. The computer system further receives real-time information related to a health condition of a patient, where the real-time health condition information is provided to the second healthcare entity.

  • Publication number: 20140236612
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to targeting specific items to health care users based on determined health concerns. In one scenario, a computer system determines that a user is subscribed to a health care service, where the health care service is configured to facilitate secure communication between the user and other health care entities. The computer system accesses health care information associated with the user. The health care information is stored as part of the health care service. The computer system determines, from the accessed health care information, various health care concerns associated with the user and, based on this determination, provides the user targeted items according to the determined health care concern.

  • Publication number: 20140236635
Abstract: Embodiments are provided for securely messaging healthcare entities. In one scenario, a computer system receives an input from a user indicating that a message including text or other characters is to be securely transmitted to a specified healthcare entity. The message is part of a conversation between a user and the specified healthcare entity. The computer system encrypts the characters of the message using at least one encryption algorithm, so that the message is encrypted during the transfer from the user to the specified healthcare entity. The computer system then initiates transmission of the encrypted message such that the encrypted message is sent to the specified healthcare entity. Throughout the process, the encrypted message is transferred in accordance with legal regulations governing healthcare communications.

  • Publication number: 20140172531
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to performing transactions using a quick response (QR) code, and to directly purchasing items from a seller using a QR code. In one scenario, a computer system receives, from a purchaser, an indication of items that are to be purchased using a mobile wallet application, and determines a total price for those items. The computer system then receives a tokenized QR code that includes embedded account information for the purchaser. The computer system generates a second tokenized QR code that includes encrypted account information for the seller, along with encrypted account information for the purchaser and the determined total price for the items that are to be purchased, and sends the second tokenized QR code to a transaction processing node where the money is transferred. The computer system then receives an electronic receipt indicating that the money was transferred from the purchaser's account to the seller's account.

  • Publication number: 20140054369
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to selecting a debit network using a quick response (QR) code and to processing a payment using a debit network selected according to information embedded in a QR code. In one scenario, a mobile computer system receives input indicating that a user has initiated a payment for various items sold by a provider of goods or services. The mobile computer system determines that the user or the provider has specified a preference indicating which debit network is to be used to process the payment. The mobile computer system then generates a QR code with the debit network selection and portions of the user's debit account information embedded in the QR code, and sends the generated QR code to a payment processing system. The payment processing system may be cloud-based, or may be run locally at the provider's point of sale.

  • Publication number: 20140058834
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to aggregating product savings into a quick response (QR) code and to providing a targeted offer via a financial transaction receipt. In one scenario, a computer system scans various items that are provided for sale by a retailer. The scanning resulting in scanning information that corresponds to the scanned items. The computer system sends the scanning information for the scanned items to a second computer system to determine whether coupons or price discounts apply to the scanned items. The computer system then receives coupons or price discounts for the scanned items from the second computer system and aggregates each of the received coupons or price discounts into a QR code that is presentable by a customer at a point of sale to redeem the coupon or price discount for the scanned items.

  • Publication number: 20130317896
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to receiving reimbursement from a product vendor for a price-matched item and to providing a retailer with the lowest online price for price matching. In one scenario, a user may use a mobile wallet to pay for an item at a retail goods store. The retailer may be one that offers price matching. The user may perform an online search to determine that the item is priced lower at various online vendors. The user can then purchase the item at the retailer for the lower, price-matched price (i.e. the price offered by the online vendor). If the retailer has an agreement in place with the product's manufacturer that the retailer will provide the lowest price, the retailer may be able to receive reimbursement from the online vendor for the difference in price between the retailer's price and the online vendor's price.

  • Publication number: 20130246141
Abstract: An electronic payment system is provided which provides monetary rewards in exchange for participation in opt-in advertising. The electronic payment system is configured to receive an indication that a user is initiating participation in opt-in advertising. The advertising is sent to the user from the electronic payment system in exchange for a monetary reward. In most cases, the user will have a mobile wallet account at the electronic payment system. The electronic payment system then sends advertisements to a mobile wallet application running on a digital device of the user, determines an appropriate monetary reward based on the number and/or type of advertisements sent to the user's mobile wallet application, and provides the determined monetary reward to the user via the mobile wallet application on the user's digital device.

  • Patent number: 8538936
Abstract: A system and method for data compression using compression hardware is disclosed. In accordance with the method, a data set in a data stream is received. The data set includes a set of data descriptor fields. The data set is portioned into one or more data subsets using the set of data descriptor fields. One or more tabular slices and an index are generated for at least one of the data subsets using the set of data descriptor fields. The one or more tabular slices are identified by the index. The one or more tabular slices are compressed into a compressed data block by a data compression scheme using a hardware compressor. A compression data file is generated in a database. The compression data file has a header that stores information about the data compression scheme. The compressed data block is stored in the compression data file.
