  • Publication number: 20060284414
Abstract: A stub-out assembly includes a stub-out conduit that defines a major diameter and a minor diameter. The minor diameter defines an attachment groove for receipt of a mount housing and a valve housing. The mount housing includes a multitude of circumferential fingers which each include a barbed end that engage a corresponding internal groove within the valve housing of the valve assembly. The mount housing fits over the minor diameter and a retainer in the mount housing is aligned with the attachment groove. The retainer includes a partially annular set of conduit attachment legs and a set of housing attachment legs. The conduit attachment legs engage the attachment groove to axially retain the conduit therein. The housing attachment legs each include a barbed end which engage a corresponding surface located within the slot.

  • Publication number: 20060230802
Abstract: An apparatus or tool for simultaneously cutting an end and forming a groove in a tube includes at least one cutter for cutting the tube and at least one roller for forming a groove in the tube. The cutter can include a profile for simultaneously cutting the tube and forming a shaped end of the tube. In one aspect, a body and a carrier are used to make the at least one cutter and the at least one roller relative to the tube. In another aspect, a pair of opposing dies are used to move the at least one cutter and the at least one roller with respect to the tube. The dies can be moved by a drive shaft connected to an output of an electric power drill.

  • Publication number: 20060125235
Abstract: A fluid coupling includes a carrier carrying a retention ring with inward and outward radially and angularly extending fingers for respectively engaging an outer surface of an endform inserted through a bore in the carrier and the inner surface of a bore in a housing in which the carrier is mounted to fix the endform to the carrier and to fix the carrier to the housing. Inner and outer seal elements are also carried on the carrier to seal the carrier to the endform and the housing to the carrier. Both of the seal elements are disposed axially closer to one end of the carrier than the inward and outward extending fingers.

  • Publication number: 20060087118
Abstract: A fluid quick connector includes concentrically joinable first and second endforms. A housing having an open end is carried on one endform and latchingly receives an adapter fixed on the other endform. An end of the adapter is biased into clamping engagement with one endform when the adapter engages the housing. In another aspect, the adapter includes two joinable sections which are fixedly mountable about one end of the first endform. A hollow insert is fixed within the end of the first endform and engages the end of the second endform in the adapter to seal the second endform to the adapter.

  • Publication number: 20050200125
Abstract: A fluid quick connector includes first and second rotatably, non-axially movably engaged housings. A retainer is mountable in the second housing for lockingly coupling a fluid operative element to the second housing. The first housing has an annular recess at one end which receives a collar extending axially from the second housing. Projections extend radially from the collar and engage the recess in the first housing to rotatably interconnect the first and second housings.

  • Publication number: 20050134040
Abstract: A fluid quick connector includes a retainer mounted in a housing which lockingly couples a first endform to the housing. Latch arms bendably extend from the housing for latching engagement with a second endform. An inner diameter of the latch arms are proximate the outer diameter of the first endform inserted through the housing to prevent substantial movement of the latch arms in a direction which would disengage the latch arms from the second endform. In another aspect, the retainer has inner arms which engage a recessed surface engagement feature in the first endform to lock the other endform to the housing. A portion of a spherical surface is formed on the ends of the inner arms to reduce the push in force required to insert the first endform through the housing and past the retainer.

  • Publication number: 20050120145
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of coupling a peripheral to a computer system, with the peripheral having a non-volatile memory for storing data representing information describing the peripheral. The method includes the steps of reading the data from the non-volatile memory by the computer system by means of a predefined communication protocol and instantiating a driver object for the computer system on the basis of this data.

  • Patent number: 5714818
Abstract: A backup bearing for use with magnetic bearings to support a rotating shaft in the event that the magnetic bearings fail due to the loss of electric power. The backup bearing includes a housing and a fluid film bearing element which is adapted to passively float in the housing and with the shaft during normal operation of the magnetic bearings and which is adapted to support the rotating shaft on a film of fluid if the magnetic bearings fail.

  • Patent number: 5310311
Abstract: An air cycle machine for producing a supply of cooled air and including a compressor rotor fixed to a shaft which is driven by a turbine rotor, the turbine serving to expand air which is pressurized by the compressor. Magnetic bearings support the shaft radially in a housing for rotation about a precisely established axis while a magnetic thrust bearing keeps the shaft in a precisely fixed axial position. The housing and the bearings are constructed as two split sections to permit the housing and the bearings to be separated radially and facilitate repair and/or replacement of the shaft and other internal components.

  • Patent number: 4195205
Abstract: A signalling arrangement for use in PCM systems includes a transfer control for determining whether signalling between exchanges should be transmitted over a speech channel or a signalling channel. If signalling is directed to information for setting up a call, a speech channel is used, whereas supervisory information employs a signalling channel. A marking memory is used having a memory cell per speech channel. A bit is stored in each memory cell for transfer of call set-up information.
