  • Publication number: 20240205685
Abstract: Described herein are techniques to ensure a user using an external device is authorized to connect and connecting to a correct implantable medical device using a wireless communication protocol. A request for authorization is sent to the external device from the implantable medical device, and the authorization can be provided by an authorization pulse sent using the implantable medical device charger over the inductive link between the charging device and the implanted device. The authorization pulse can be trusted because the inductive link is short range, ensuring the patient is aware of the connection to the implanted device. Once the implanted device receives the authorization pulse, it may finalize the pairing over the first connection.

  • Patent number: 12010242
Abstract: To protect the integrity of data stored in a protected area of memory, data in the protected area of memory is retrieved in data blocks and an authentication code is associated with a memory granule contiguously comprising a first data block and a second data block. Calculation of the authentication code comprises a cryptographic calculation based on a first hash value determined from the first data block and a second hash value determined from the second data block. A hash value cache is provided to store hash values determined from data blocks retrieved from the protected area of the memory. When the first data block and its associated authentication code are retrieved from memory, a lookup for the second hash value in the hash value cache is performed, and a verification authentication code is calculated for the memory granule to which that data block belongs. The integrity of the first data block is contingent on the verification authentication code matching the retrieved authentication code.

  • Publication number: 20240184822
Abstract: A method of providing a personalized audio briefing to a user is performed at an electronic device. The device receives identification of information sources associated with the user. Each of the information sources is associated with a content type. The device receives an authorization to access the identified information sources and a preferred order of content types for presentation within the audio briefing. It transmits to a remote system the identification, the authorization, and the preferred order. Following the transmitting, the device receives a verbal input from the user requesting the audio briefing. In response to the verbal input, the device receives a response generated by the remote system, including content from the information sources and information inserted by the remote system based on the authorization to access received from the user. The device outputs an audible response according to the preferred order.

  • Patent number: 12000066
Abstract: Disclosed are processes for manufacturing cross-linked cellulosic fibers and tissue products comprising cross-linked cellulosic fibers, manufactured by reacting an oxidized polyol, in particular, an oxidized sugar having at least two aldehyde groups with a plurality of cellulosic fibers to yield treated fibers and heating the treated fibers at a temperature greater than about 140° C. to cure the treated fibers. In particular, said sugar is sucrose and the oxidising agent comprises hydrogen peroxide. The instant cross-linked fibers are manufactured without well-known cross-linking agents such as formaldehyde or polycarboxylic acids, and have good brightness and color and resist yellowing. Furthermore, the cross-linked cellulosic fibers are generally free from off odors and the instant cross-linked cellulosic fibers have enhanced properties, such as improved wet bulk, compared to uncross-linked fibers.

  • Patent number: 11979742
Abstract: Detection and prevention of resource drain from unauthorized wireless device connections is provided. Responsive to receiving of a connection request from a connecting device, a pre-authentication message is sent to the connecting device, the pre-authentication message including a challenge value. A vehicle hash result is computed using a hash function taking the challenge value and the unique identifier of the vehicle as inputs. A device hash result is received from the connecting device. Responsive to a match of the vehicle hash result and the device hash result, additional hardware of the vehicle is activated to perform a secondary authentication of the connecting device. Responsive to a mismatch, authentication of the connecting device is rejected without activation of the additional hardware, thereby avoiding key-off load from the additional hardware in instances where pre-authentication of the connecting device fails.
