  • Publication number: 20040259666
Abstract: A weighted training device specifically adapted for use with hockey equipment. The training device includes a hand-malleable, weighted tape portion and a securement portion. The weighted tape portion is hand conformable to the shape and cross-section of hockey equipment, such as skates and sticks, while the securement portion wraps tightly about the equipment to firmly retain the position of the training device. The device has a substantially flat orientation so as to be unobtrusive and not interfere with game play during use. By varying the dimensional or material characteristics of the weighted tape portion, the overall weight of the training device can be modified so as to promote use by individuals ranging from small children all the way to adults. Application of the weighted training device requires no tools and only a minimum level of physical strength and dexterity to use.

  • Publication number: 20040156130
Abstract: An optical sheet that accepts light transmitted at or within a specific entrance cone angle that then redirects and transmits the light within an exit cone that is substantially normal to the sheet's plane. The intensity of the light within the exit cone is substantially uniform for any light source entering the sheet within the sheet's acceptance angle. The optical sheet is made of transparent material with microlens arrays formed on its opposite front and back surfaces. The thickness of the optical sheet is sufficient so that the microlens on the opposite surfaces are separated a distance equal to the microlens focal length, with each microlens on the front and back surfaces having substantially similar size and shape, with centers transversely aligned. When used with one or more light sources located on one surface, the transmitted light through the optical sheet is uniform in intensity across a second surface.

  • Patent number: 6666197
Abstract: A process and a device for controlling selective cylinder filling in combustion engines with a variable valve drive, where the valve stroke and/or the valve opening and closing times of the cylinder intake valves are controllable. In order to ensure satisfactory idling quality also in direct fuel-injection engines in spite of the occurring production tolerances, at least one input magnitude is determined on whose basis conclusions can be drawn as to the filling level or filling level differences of each cylinder. From this input magnitude, a control signal for the variable valve operation is determined such that differing filling levels of the cylinder can be balanced out by adjusting the valve drive.

  • Patent number: 6336818
Abstract: An electrical connector for connecting a solenoid wire coil to a printed circuit board in an automotive anti-lock braking system has a coil bobbin, around which the wire coil is wound. The wire coil has pre-tinned sections that are wrapped over stems protruding from the coil bobbin. When the stems are inserted in through-holes of the printed circuit board, the pre-tinned sections contact the through-holes, establishing a connection between the solenoid coil wire and the printed circuit board without soldering. In a preferred embodiment, the connector includes a bobbin outer mold and a stem outer mold covering the bobbin and stems, respectively, for protection against environmental conditions. A seal at the juncture between the stem and bobbin outermolds provides further protection of the coil.
