  • Publication number: 20020073012
Abstract: A system and method are described that allow a customer to shop on-line for service businesses that will repair a vehicle. The system provides an input screen that captures information relating to the vehicle needing service and transmits that data to service businesses. The service businesses respond to the transmitted data by forwarding an estimate for the repair work to the system. A custom Internet page that displays all of the estimates is developed by the system and a link to that page is emailed to the customer.

  • Publication number: 20020054029
Abstract: A method for providing information via an interactive display system includes activating the system when inputting a command by touching an interactive display screen. The command is transmitted to a remote client computer via a KVM extender. The client computer processes the input command and generates and sends a data request to a server computer associated with the database via a computer network. The database is searched for data corresponding to the data request, and any dynamic data is compiled and formatted into a template-based dynamic web page. Any dynamic graphic layouts are also incorporated. The retrieved data corresponding to the data request is transmitted from the client computer to the interactive display screen via the KVM extender, where it is displayed in a user-friendly web page format. The system can be easily updated by modifying data using customized database forms accessed through the server computer.

  • Patent number: 6272310
Abstract: A toner fuser system suitable for producing high quality color transparencies is provided. The fuser system includes a media conditioning assembly located directly downstream of a fuser assembly, which may be a roll fuser or an instant-on belt fuser. The conditioner assembly includes a convective heat source, a heating zone, and a convective circulation path past the heat source and the heating zone to provide convective heat transfer to a transparency in the heating zone. A transparency (or other media) with toner to be fused travels on a media path first through the fuser assembly and then through the heating zone of the conditioner assembly. The fuser assembly causes toner to adhere to the transparency just well enough to allow the transparency to pass into the conditioner. In the conditioner, the toner is reheated, thereby causing the surface of the toner to reflow into a smooth, glossy, and uniform surface that increases light transmission efficiency of color transparencies.

  • Patent number: 6253045
Abstract: A multi-level oiling device drive mechanism suitable for use in an imaging apparatus is disclosed. The drive mechanism includes a prime mover and gear train mounted to a frame of the base machine. A driven member of the oiling device, such as a web take-up spool in an oil web system, is driven by the gear train. When replacement of the oiling device is required, the driven member is disconnected from the gear train, and the device is replaced, without the need for replacing the drive mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4030158
Abstract: A hair brush, particularly useful for blow waving has a back of open frame construction to facilitate the flow of hot air. Folded single bristles are inserted into holes on the front surface of the brush in a staggered relatively uniform arrangement. The bristles are relatively thick in diameter and include a bead at one end to avoid scratching the scalp. The thickness of the bristles enables them to withstand the heat of the air used in blow waving.
