  • Publication number: 20040039777
Abstract: A system for satisfying a request from a client for a send-then-commit transaction includes a front-end information management system (IMS) server. Shared message queues (SMQ) communicate with the front-end IMS server and plural back-end IMS. The front-end IMS server receives the request from the client and transmits the request to the SMQ. A back-end IMS server accesses the SMQ and generates a transaction output in response to the request. The back-end IMS server transmits the result to the front-end IMS server and the front-end IMS server interfaces with the client to communicate the response thereto. The back-end IMS server and front-end IMS server operate in separate system images, but work together in a resource recovery services (RRS) environment to commit or backout the transaction output.

  • Patent number: 6377835
Abstract: In a 3D magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) method, a region of interest, containing a major pulmonary vessel, is defined in an examination subject, and the subject is injected with a contrast agent bolus and a number of 3D magnetic resonance angiography data sets are obtained from the examination subject before, during and after arrival of the bolus in the region of interest. A slice from each of the data sets is selected which contains the region of interest, and an average region of interest signal as a function of time is determined and stored as a reference time curve. In the respective selected slices, a signal-time curve is identified and each signal-time curve is cross-correlated with the reference time curve. The cross-correlation results are used to form a new three-dimensional data set containing arterial and venous correlation maps.

  • Patent number: 5997701
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for the galvanic deposition of a metal layer on a substrate and comprises a substrate holder connected to a drive shaft that extends in a direction perpendicular to a surface of the substrate. The cathode current is supplied to the substrate by the drive shaft. The drive shaft has an outer insulating layer. The substrate is held in contact with a contact plate by a supporting ring on the outer periphery of a supporting plate. The contact plate rests on a base of the supporting plate and has a central sleeve connectable with the drive shaft. A mounting portion is provided in the base around the sleeve and a tube portion is inserted into the mounting portion in a sealing and detachable manner. An internally threaded ring is arranged on the drive shaft and is shiftable along the longitudinal axis of the drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 5976329
Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus for the galvanic deposition of a ml layer on a substrate. The apparatus comprises a container for holding an electrolyte, and an anode container filled with an anode material and having an essentially planar exit surface for the metal ions of the anode material. A substrate holder is connected to a drive shaft that is supported in a drive means mounted on a cover of the container. The cover is pivotable about a pivoting axis of a pivoting means mounted on the side of the container opposite to the anode container. An adjusting plate permits the substrate surface to be adjusted with respect to the exit surface of the anode container facing the substrate surface. The invention provides a more uniform deposition of metal ions on the substrate surface.

  • Patent number: 4938684
Abstract: The burners of a fuel-fired system are controlled by means of a feedback control system for temperature control. The control system comprises temperature measuring means, a controller for temperature control, final burner controlling means translating the output from the controller into an appropriate burner input rate, and a digital central processing unit determining pulse spacing (t.sub.ps), pulse duration (tON) and pulse separation (tOFF). A minimum pulse spacing (.sup.t ps.sub.min), being the sum of the minimum pulse duration (tON.sub.min) and the minimum pulse separation (tOFF.sub.min), is present and used as an input rate reference value. Using the input rate reference value for the minimum pulse spacing, the burner input rate is controlled in accordance with process requirements by varying pulse spacing (t.sub.ps) through varying pulse separation or pulse duration.
