Patent number: 10448127Abstract: Communication systems include network nodes that distribute an electrical or optical base signal to remote nodes for modulation at the remotes nodes. A first waveguide is coupled to transmit data to a corresponding remote node, a second waveguide is coupled to receive remotely modulated data from the remote node, and a third waveguide is coupled to deliver the base signal to the remote node. Typically, the base signal is an optical signal from a laser diode, and optical fibers communicate modulated data signals and the base signal. A portion of the base signal can also be modulated for communication with remote nodes.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2018Date of Patent: October 15, 2019Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Frederick David Sinn, Michael Bruce Lane, David John O'Meara, Alaa Adel Mahdi Hayder

Patent number: 10353060Abstract: A system for isolating signals from individual vehicles. An array of sensors generates a plurality of time records. The time records are transformed into spectrogram structures, and for each time-frequency point in the spectrogram structures, a bearing is calculated, to form a movement structure. A Hough transform is used to fit a movement model to the movement structure, to form a Hough transform structure. Peaks in the Hough transform structure correspond to vehicles and their position in the Hough transform structure correspond to motion parameters, such as the velocity of the vehicle, and the time of closest approach of the vehicle to the array of acoustic sensors. A model of the motion of a vehicle is then used to associate, with the vehicle, points (e.g., structure elements in the spectrogram structures) from the data.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2017Date of Patent: July 16, 2019Assignee: RAYTHEON BBN TECHNOLOGIES CORP.Inventors: Aaron Scott Kofford, Matthew Paul Allen, Michael Bruce Goldsmith

Patent number: 10318843Abstract: An apparatus that includes a computer server having processing circuitry operatively coupled to a memory and a communication interface is provided. A remote image capture device is communicatively coupled to the computer server via the communication interface. The apparatus acquires a captured image of a storage system from the image capture device. The apparatus identifies a pair of physical items in the image, including determining identities of each item of the pair of physical items, and identifying locations in the storage system of each physical item of the pair of physical items. The apparatus processes the image to measure a physical proximity between the pair of physical items, and generates or updates a measure of similarity between the pair of physical items based on the measured physical proximity. The apparatus can also process multiple images to determine similarity between different storage systems or associated persons based on item proximities.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2017Date of Patent: June 11, 2019Assignee: Rakuten Kobo, Inc.Inventors: Sancho Juan Carlos Dean Rob Roy McCann, Marius Constantin Muja, Peter Michael Bruce Hudson
