Abstract: A method and system for sharing knowledge may include receiving information input into a database and organizing items of information in the database. Some embodiments may also include collecting ratings and comments associated with each item of information and allowing users to access and sort items of information according to selected rating criteria in order to find the most reliable and/or valuable information from the database. The described system and method may allow individual members to easily locate the items of information from a collectively generated knowledge base that is presented in accordance with that individual's personal measure of value in the information.

Abstract: A cloud computing environment having a plurality of computing nodes is described. Upon receiving authorization, a plurality of virtual machines may be communicated to provide at least one virtual network to service to the plurality virtual machines. Each of the plurality of virtual machines communicates with a virtual network layer at a virtual interface via at least one virtual Ethernet (vEthernet), An IP gateway to a network is provided to the plurality of virtual machines. Communications between the fP gateway and the network are facilitated. Communications between a network control layer and at least one network are routed.

Abstract: A system and method for quantifying MR data acquired during a UTE sequence include a computer programmed to execute an MR scan comprising an application of an RF pulse, an echo time (TE) period, and an application of a data acquisition gradient pulse, wherein the TE period begins after the RF pulse and ends before the data acquisition gradient pulse. MR data of an imaging object are acquired during application of the data acquisition gradient pulse, and a phase image is reconstructed based on the acquired MR data. The computer is also programmed to calculate a first contribution of phase to the phase image during the application of the RF pulse, to calculate a second contribution of phase to the phase image by the application of the data acquisition gradient pulse, and to generate a frequency map based on the phase image and based on the first and second contributions of phase.

Abstract: Organizing permissions to authorize a subject to perform an action on an object in a cloud computing environment is described. A plurality of permissions associated with a cloud customer is created. A first set of permissions from the plurality of permissions is associated with one or more objects. Each of the first set of permissions describes an action performed on an object. A second set of permissions from the plurality of permissions is associated with one or more users. Each of the second set of permissions describes an action to be performed by one or more users.

Abstract: A knowledge interface is provided that interacts with a user to identify a solution to a customer problem or issue with respect to a particular product or service. The knowledge interface includes data processing functionality configured to dynamically generate a number of components that are presented in at least one display window for display to the user. The components include first data identifying a set of predetermined symptoms linked to the problem or issue and related interface elements for classification of the set of predetermined symptoms, second data identifying a set of predetermined root causes linked to the set of predetermined symptoms and related interface elements for classification of the set of predetermined root causes, and third data identifying a set of solutions linked to the set of predetermined root causes. The third data identifies a best solution based upon the predetermined root causes and their associated class designations.

Abstract: A local gateway device receives email across the internet from a sender of the email and forwards it across the internet to an email filtering system. The email filtering system analyzes the email to determine whether it is spam, phishing or contains a virus and sends it back to the local gateway device along with the filtered determination. The local gateway device forwards the received email and the filtered determination to a local junk store which handles the email appropriately. For example, if the email has been determined to be spam, phishing or containing a virus, the junk store can quarantine the email and if the email has been determined to be non-spun and/or not phishing and/or not containing a virus, the junk store can forward the email to a local mail server for delivery.

The lower portion has a sidewall and a base portion that define a hollow interior having an opening defined by a distal portion of the sidewall. The sidewall has a keyway. The lid has a body portion with a peripheral portion. A flap is attached to the peripheral portion. A key member is positioned on the flap. The key member is receivable inside the keyway of the lower portion. The body portion is configured to be pivoted relative to the flap when the key member is received inside the keyway to position the body portion adjacent the distal portion of the sidewall to close the opening of the hollow interior. The lid may include additional flaps with tabs configured to be received inside recesses formed in the lower portion. A tray and/or freezer pack may be positioned inside the hollow interior.

Abstract: Generally, a variable fan speed control in an HVAC system is described. Such methods and systems to control fan speed can in turn improve efficiency of the HVAC system by minimizing power consumption, for example of the compressor. The control scheme is based on various operating conditions of compressor load and ambient air temperature, which are used to determine an optimum fan speed.

Abstract: Implantable vertebral staples and tools for use with the same are provided. In general, an exemplary vertebral staple according to the present invention includes a staple body having at least one long spike formed thereon for allowing rotation of the body when the long spike is partially inserted in bone. The staple body can also include one or more short spikes formed thereon and adapted to prevent rotation of the body when the long and short spikes are fully inserted into bone. The present invention also provides an inserter tool that can be used to implant the vertebral staple, and also a drill guide that can be used, preferably in combination with the inserter tool, to drill holes through the bone in alignment with one or more holes formed in the vertebral staple.

Abstract: Launching an instance in cloud computing environment having a plurality of computing nodes is described. At a user's home cloud system, a request is received from the user to launch an instance of an object. At the home cloud system, a designated remote cloud system is determined from a federated plurality of remote cloud systems based on the request. The request is translated into a format suitable for the designated remote cloud system. The translated request is communicated to the designated remote cloud system. The instance of the object is launched at the designated remote cloud.

Abstract: An implantable spinal cross connector is provided for connecting one or more spinal fixation devices, and more preferably for connecting two spinal fixation rods that are implanted within a patient's spinal system. In general, an exemplary cross connector in accordance with the present invention includes an elongate body with at least one rod-receiving recess formed therein, and a locking mechanism that is adapted to couple to the elongate body and that is effective to lock a spinal fixation rod within the rod-receiving recess(es). The present invention also provides an inserter tool to facilitate implanting a spinal implant or device, such as a spinal cross connector.

Abstract: A method of locating subsurface hydrocarbon reservoirs includes acquiring seismic data, extracting seismic data attributes from the seismic data, calculating exemplar data group probability density function values using distribution values associated with the seismic attributes and applying Bayesian inversion to determine the likelihood of subsurface hydrocarbons.
