  • Publication number: 20180352647
Abstract: A printed circuit board assembly includes a printed circuit board having a plurality of signal lanes. The PCBA also includes at least one application-specific integrated circuit operatively mounted to the printed circuit board and connected with the plurality of signal lanes. The PCBA includes a first configuration element operatively mounted to the printed circuit board in a first orientation and at a first location and having a first bridging element for providing an electrical connection between at least a first pair of signal lanes selected from the plurality of signal lanes. The first configuration element also includes a second bridging element so that if the first configuration element were operatively mounted to the printed circuit board in a different, second orientation relative to the printed circuit board, the second bridging element would provide an electrical connection between at least a second pair of signal lanes.

  • Patent number: 10149411
Abstract: A system includes an enclosure with a device space having a layer of active devices arranged into rows and adjacent cooling channels and an inlet partition having apertures aligned to the cooling channels defining a supply plenum. In a method of use, cooling fluid, such as air, is transferred from the supply plenum to the cooling channels to concurrently cool the layer of active devices and may provide substantially the same temperature and flow of cooling fluid to each row of active devices. Active devices may include storage devices. The supply plenum may include elongate ducts to encourage uniform cooling along a row. The supply plenum may also include a duct partition or more than one supply plenum to encourage uniform cooling among the rows. One or more fans may provide pressurized cooling fluid in the supply plenum space.

  • Publication number: 20180322127
Abstract: The present approach improves the query performance of a database in a manner that is transparent to a user. In one aspect, this approach creates separate partition tables that are not directly accessible to a user of the database. A client-facing aspect of the database is a logical model which may correspond to a single, main table with which the user interacts. Thus, queries or operations may be generated on the client side in the context of the logical model. A database or query layer can then, transparent to the user, translate the user generated requests into query language that addresses the proper partitions to generate a result set or otherwise perform a database operation.

  • Publication number: 20180322167
Abstract: The present approach assigns a code to each node class of a data tree modeling a database. The node class codes may be used to generate a node class path for each node class. This class path may be used as a discriminator to reference a given node class or portion of the tree including the class path and may be stored in a field of the database and/or cached. Use of the class path in query operations reduces the complexity of certain queries, thereby speeding up query performance.

  • Patent number: 10122760
Abstract: A computer network security system includes a central controller in communication with software-based endpoint agents operating on individual host computers. The endpoint agents monitor new connection requests to and from their respective hosts, comparing the connections to cached rules obtained from the controller, and holding new connections while escalating requests for applicable rules and/or directives to the controller in real-time when no applicable rules are available in their caches. The endpoint agents can be configured to present a pop-up dialog requesting enhanced authentication credentials from a user on a host in response to a connection request from a restricted network-based application. The pop-up dialog enables enhanced or two-factor authentication functionality to be overlaid on any networked application regardless of the application's inherent authentication capability.

  • Patent number: 10118741
Abstract: A resealable closure for a container in which package integrity is indicated by a structure which connects the closure to a remaining portion of the container which must be broken in order to gain access to the contents of the container for a first time. The package integrity feature, in one form, includes a structure associated with the closure, wherein upon opening the closure for a first time, the structure stretches, increasing a length of the structure until the structure eventually breaks, leaving one or both residual ends of the broken structure rippled or curved upward from the remainder of the container. In one alternative form, the structure is associated with a pull tab of the sealing panel, which comprises the closure, whereby either the structure must be broken first, prior to pulling back the sealing panel, or while pulling back the sealing panel for a first time, the structure breaks, prior to gaining access to the contents therein.

  • Publication number: 20180310116
Abstract: Examples are disclosed that relate to a head-mounted device configured to perform virtual echolocation. The head-mounted device is configured to cast an array of rays at specified angles from a position derived from a pose of the head-mounted device in a physical environment, identify a plurality of intersection points of the rays with a virtual model of the physical environment, for each identified intersection point, modify an audio signal based on a head-related transfer function corresponding to the intersection point to produce a plurality of spatialized audio signals, for each spatialized audio signal, determine a time-of-flight adjustment based upon a distance between the corresponding intersection point and the position from which the rays were cast, and output each spatialized audio signal to one or more speakers with a delay based on the time-of-flight adjustment.

  • Publication number: 20180292014
Abstract: A valve has a housing defining an inlet and an outlet and a cavity therebetween which receives a valve seat. The valve seat defines a slot which receives a body rotatably mounted with in the valve seat. The valve seat is sealingly engaged with the housing, the body rotatably mounted with in the valve seat sealingly engages the valve seat and is rotatably movable between an open and a closed position using an actuator. An opening in the housing provides access to the cavity. The valve seat may be removed from the housing through the opening by attaching the valve seat to the body rotatably mounted with in the valve seat, thereby attaching the valve seat to the actuator, and withdrawing the body rotatably mounted with in the valve seat from the housing using the actuator.

  • Publication number: 20180294878
Abstract: A system includes a first optical communication interface and a second optical communication interface optically coupled via a free-space communication channel. The interfaces are spaced at variable distances. Each interface includes an optical source to provide a beam of electromagnetic energy and an optical receiver to receive the beam to bi-directionally communicate with the other interface via the channel. The first optical communication interface may be coupled to a sub-chassis. The second optical communication interface may be coupled to a device frame. The device frame may be movably coupled to the chassis. Communication may utilize multi-input, multi-output processing configured by a calibration matrix. A shutter may be positioned to receive the beam or be positioned clear of the beam depending on the distance between the interfaces.
