Patent number: 9125252Abstract: A power line communication system and signaling protocol is usable for quick dimming of an electronic ballast. An encoding circuit transmits message frames having encoded control signals across a AC power line. Each of a first set of frames includes a bit pattern corresponding to a lighting zone, and a second set of frames includes hamming-encoded bit patterns corresponding to respective hexadecimal digits of a dimming level for the lighting zone. A ballast in a first (quick-dim) configuration detects the second set of frames, decodes the hamming-encoded digits and immediately adjusts the ballast output to the desired power level. The ballast in a second (normal) configuration determines the desired power level based on a pattern density in the first set of frames, and adjusts the output current of the ballast accordingly. If the ballast of the first configuration fails to detect the second set of frames, it defaults to pattern density recognition.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2014Date of Patent: September 1, 2015Assignee: Universal Lighting Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Henry Jacobs, Michael Diaz-Tello

Publication number: 20100268278Abstract: Various embodiments of a vertebral tension band assembly and associated connection structure are provided. The tension band assemblies may be attached to vertebral bodies to, for example, connect one vertebrae to another, retain the band in approximately a preferred position by application of tension to the band during insertion and/or limit, impede, inhibit, reduce or interfere with the separation from one vertebra to another and may further block, impede, interfere with, inhibit, reduce or present an obstacle to dislodgement of a spinal implant from between the vertebrae to which it is attached. Flexible band portions of the assemblies may be treated and/or configured to promote bony integration between the band and the associated vertebrae, limit tissue adhesion to the band, and/or to elute a therapeutic substance from the installed band to the surgical site.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 15, 2009Publication date: October 21, 2010Applicant: Warsaw Orthopedic, Inc.Inventors: Kevin T. Publication number: 20080006280Abstract: The inventive apparatus may be slid onto a guiding catheter or other thru-lumen catheters, solid catheters, such as Electrophysiology catheters and multi-lumen tubing and advanced to the distal end of the guiding catheter or other thru-lumen catheters, solid catheters, such as Electrophysiology catheters and multi-lumen tubing to assist in holding the distal end of the guiding catheter or other thru-lumen catheters, solid catheters, such as Electrophysiology catheters and multi-lumen tubing at a target location within a patient, by utilizing an externally applied magnetic field to hold a plurality of magnetic elements on the apparatus in alignment with the target location. A medical device may then be advanced through the guiding catheter, for example, to the target location in the patient, without the guiding catheter backing out.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 20, 2005Publication date: January 10, 2008Inventors: Anthony Aliberto, Janothan Sell, Richard DiMonda, Michael Diaz

Patent number: 5569775Abstract: A process for separating dimethyldichlorosilane from methyltrichlorosilane in a mixture. The process comprises contacting a mixture comprising methyltrichlorosilane and dimethyldichlorosilane with silica gel, where the dimethyldichlorosilane is selectively retained by the silica gel. The process provides for the recovery of a methyltrichlorosilane fraction reduced in dimethyldichlorosilane concentration. The present process is especially useful for removing low levels of dimethyldichlorosilane present as a contaminate in methyltrichlorosilane.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1995Date of Patent: October 29, 1996Assignee: Dow Corning CorporationInventors: Michael Diaz, Roland L. Patent number: 5567836Abstract: A process for separating methyltrichlorosilane from dimethyldichlorosilane in a mixture. The process comprises contacting a mixture comprising methyltrichlorosilane and dimethyldichlorosilane with activated carbon, where the methyltrichlorosilane is selectively adsorbed by the activated carbon. The process allows for the recovery of a dimethyldichlorosilane fraction reduced in methyltrichlorosilane concentration. The methyltrichlorosilane can be recovered by desorption from the activated carbon. The present process is especially useful for removing low levels of methyltrichlorosilane present as a contaminate in dimethyldichlorosilane.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1995Date of Patent: October 22, 1996Assignee: Dow Corning CorporationInventors: Michael Diaz, Roland L. Halm, Michael A. McIntyre, Oliver K. Wilding

Patent number: 4249693Abstract: A dispensing cup-box closure apparatus provides a pair of rectangular planar members joining at a common edge, each of the members having uniform widths corresponding to the width of the common edge. The planar members form an angle with respect to each other of substantially 90.degree.. A pair of correspondingly sized side webb members are provided, each having at least three edges and each side webb member being integrally connected respectively along at least two of the edges to the pair of planar members. The integral connection of the correspondingly sized side webb members and the planar rectangular members provide a container having an inner container space and an opening for receiving a dispensed product into the inner container space. The integral container provides a diagonally cut cube which conveniently covers and seals the dispensing flap opening of conventional rectangular cardboard boxes in addition to the container function.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1979Date of Patent: February 10, 1981Inventor: Michael Diaz
