    Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of vitamin D insufficiency and deficiency, viz. too low blood levels of 25(OH)D, and to their prevention and treatment. It provides a vitamin D supplement which comprises (i) a combination of 25(OH)D3 and/or 25(OH)D2 and vitamin D2; or (ii) a combination of 25(OH)D3 and/or 25(OH)D2 and vitamin D3; or (iii) a combination of 25(OH)D3 and/or 25(OH)D2 and a combination of vitamin D2 and vitamin D3, for use in the treatment of and/or prophylaxis of vitamin D insufficiency or deficiency in obese persons, overweight persons having the tendency to get obese or persons having a history of malabsorption of vitamin D or persons with a genetic disposition to develop obesity. Also provided are corresponding compositions and dosage regimens comprising such vitamin D supplements as well as kits comprising such compositions. Furthermore, corresponding dosage regimens for daily administration and corresponding product package inserts are also provided.
