  • Publication number: 20040220329
Abstract: An aqueous polymer composition including a plurality of comb copolymer particles is disclosed. The comb copolymer particles contain comb copolymer having a polymer backbone with at least one attached graft segment. The polymer backbone and the at least one graft segment have select compositional ranges and select glass transition temperature ranges. Further, the comb copolymer contains as a polymerized unit at least one select monomer such as, aldehyde reactive group-containing monomer or certain styrenic monomers. The aqueous polymer composition of the present invention is useful for preparing coatings having one or more improved properties such as dirt pickup resistance, gloss, gloss retention, alkyd adhesion, and tint retention. • Patent number: 6809282
Abstract: An electromagnetic circuit breaker is provided with a pair of magnets on opposing sides of the contacts in the open position. A magnetic field generated by the magnets combines with the magnetic field generated by the electrical arc created upon opening of the contacts during an overcurrent condition sensed by the breaker. The combined magnetic fields deflect the arc current, shifting the arc current away from the contact points and lengthening the path of the arc, thereby increasing the voltage rating of the breaker, by decreasing the intensity of an associated arc current.

  • Publication number: 20040145846
Abstract: An electromagnetic circuit breaker assembly, comprising at least one circuit breaker, is provided with a reverse polarity circuit that reduces the voltage presented to the terminals of the circuit breaker to which it is electrically connected when the terminals are further connected to a source of voltage in reverse polarity. The circuit breaker assembly is tripped due to the reverse polarity set-up, and remains tripped until the polarity is corrected. The electromagnetic coil is continuous provided with sufficient voltage so that the breaker may not be manually reset until the polarity is corrected. Preferably, the breaker is mechanically connected with another circuit breaker to create an assembly that will protect circuitry and devices against both a reverse polarity condition and an overload condition under normal operation. To this end, the reverse polarity circuit does not affect operation of the circuit breaker assembly if the polarity is in accordance with the normal set-up.

  • Patent number: 6074257
Abstract: An electrical connection strip used for high density wiring in telecommunication systems includes an elongated block, a first and second row of connector elements and a conductor guide pivotally mounted to a bottom surface of the block. The connector elements are mounted within the block so that end portions of the first row of connector elements protrude through a top surface of the block and end portions of the second row of connector elements protrude through a bottom surface of the block. The conductor guide pivots to bend conductor wires connected to the second row of connector elements at the bottom surface of the block from a first position, in which the conductor wires are substantially parallel to the bottom surface, to a second position, in which the conductor wires are substantially perpendicular to the bottom surface.

  • Patent number: 6062914
Abstract: A low profile mounting bracket carries coupling connector blocks that mate with load and line terminals of a molded split case circuit breaker housing. The housing defines a well for receiving an alarm or auxiliary switch, and the switch is received in a central opening in the bracket with the switch terminals in turn received in a connector that fits into the same central opening. Finally, a PC board is used to electrically connect each switch to external circuitry that may generate alarms or otherwise affect the circuit breaker's operation.

  • Patent number: 5920451
Abstract: A multi-pole circuit breaker assembly for interrupting AC power to a load upon the detection of an earth leakage fault or an overcurrent condition includes a pair of circuit breaker units mounted adjacent to an earth leakage module. The earth leakage module includes an electronic circuit that senses a current imbalance between the power line lead and the neutral line lead using a differential transformer. In response to a current imbalance greater than a predetermined value, the electronic circuit periodically energizes a switching circuit that provides power across a solenoid. The solenoid, when actuated, engages a common trip mechanism to open concurrently the contacts of the circuit breakers units. The common trip mechanism includes an elongated bar that extends through the casing of the earth leakage module and the circuit breaker units. The elongated bar engages a U-shaped trip member pivotally disposed in each circuit breaker.

  • Patent number: 5436994
Abstract: An improved fiber optic connector of the type in which a fiber supporting ferrule is slidably and resiliently biased independently of the surrounding load-bearing parts of the connectors so that forces applied to the fiber optic cable jacket are not transmitted to the ferrule and supported fiber to interrupt communications then in progress. The connector is substantially fully assembled prior to interconnection with the cable, and requires the introduction of an epoxy or other suitable adhesive to secure the fiber within the ferrule which is provided by a syringe. The needle of the syringe is inserted into a positioning tube which confines the adhesive to the needed area, and prevents wicking of the adhesive to surrounding areas where it might interfere with the sliding action of the ferrule. It also wipes the needle of adhesive as it is withdrawn.

  • Patent number: 5053736
Abstract: An electromagnetic circuit breaker has a housing that includes a separately defined arc chamber in which the moving contact travels as the breaker is tripped, and the chamber has a divergent shape to facilitate exhausting the hot gases from the arc chamber through a metal screen and through vent openings in the end wall of the breaker housing. The housing is made in two half sections that are held together by rivets and the location of one of these rivets is isolated from the fixed contact at the lower end of the arc chamber by the unique arc chamber configuration. The lower wall of the circuit breaker housing is adapted to receive either a molded switch subassembly or to receive a terminal strip that is held in place by the primary terminals of the breaker and is adapted also to support auxiliary terminals that operate a shunt coil. The shunt coil itself is fitted on a bobbin that is selectively mounted on the bobbin that contains the primary electromagnetic coil for the breaker.
