  • Patent number: 12078531
Abstract: An illustrative calibration member made from a material that scatters light may be used to perform a calibration operation with respect to an optical measurement device having a plurality of light sources and a plurality of detectors distributed among a plurality of modules. The calibration member may form an exterior surface configured to support the optical measurement device and scatter photons of light emitted by the optical measurement device. The calibration operation may be performed based on arrival times of the scattered photons detected by the optical measurement device.

  • Publication number: 20240281020
Abstract: A sorting circuit includes: a stack of registers for storing a set of data values from a highest value to a lowest value; a set of comparators for substantially simultaneously comparing an input data value to the set of data values stored in the registers, where the comparators enable registers whose stored data values are less than the input data values to receive a replacement data value; and a set of multiplexers, each associated with a register in the stack to select the replacement data value when the register is enabled. The multiplexer selects the input data value to be the replacement data value if the register is the highest register in the stack currently storing a data value that is less than the input data value. Otherwise, the multiplexer selects the data value stored in the next-highest register in the stack to be the replacement data value.

  • Publication number: 20240270770
Abstract: Compositions and methods for isolating L-glufosinate from a composition comprising L-glufosinate and glutamate are provided. The method comprises converting the glutamate to pyroglutamate followed by the isolation of L-glufosinate from the pyroglutamate and other components of the composition to obtain substantially purified L-glufosinate. The composition comprising L-glufosinate and glutamate is subjected to an elevated temperature for a sufficient time to allow for the conversion of glutamate to pyroglutamate, followed by the isolation of L-glufosinate from the pyroglutamate and other components of the composition to obtain substantially purified L-glufosinate. The glutamate alternatively may be converted to pyroglutamate by enzymatic conversion. The purified L-glufosinate is present in a final composition at a concentration of 90% or greater of the sum of L-glufosinate, glutamate, and pyroglutamate.

  • Patent number: 11515462
Abstract: For producing an Nb3Sn superconductor wire, restack rod process (RRP) subelements (1a; 60a) are grouped to form a bundle having an approximately circular cross section and are arranged together with filling elements (18a-18c) in an internally and externally round outer tube (19; 52). To the inside the filling elements form a serrated profile (25) for abutment against the hexagonal subelements, and to the outside they form a round profile (24) for direct or indirect abutment in the outer tube. In fabricating the RRP subelements, and before a reshaping with a reduction in cross section, an externally hexagonal and internally round casing structure (9) is provided, into which the remaining parts of the subelements are inserted, in particular, an annular arrangement of hexagonal Nb-containing rod elements (4), which are surrounded externally by an outer matrix (7, 61) and internally by an inner matrix (3).

  • Patent number: 11498884
Abstract: A system for recovering fat, oil and grease (FOG) from wastewater has multiple annular flotation zones in a concentric configuration surrounding a central column to create progressively increasing surface areas for FOG and solid particles flotation. Each flotation zone may be equipped with an independent pressurized micro air and/or ozone bubbles distribution system. The FOG is recovered in the first flotation zone without chemical additions. Coagulant and flocculant may be added in the second flotation zone to maximize removals of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), total suspended solids (TSS), and colloidal particulates and produce clear effluent. Magnesium chloride is added in the third flotation zone to remove phosphorus and to form struvite particulates that can be used as fertilizer. Since both organic loading and solid loading in the treated effluent are significantly reduced, poultry processing plants can more easily meet wastewater treatment plant discharge limits and avoid surcharges.

  • Patent number: 11485650
Abstract: A system for recovering fat, oil and grease (FOG) from wastewater has multiple annular flotation zones in a concentric configuration surrounding a central column to create progressively increasing surface areas for FOG and solid particles flotation, and thereby enhance FOG recovery and removal. Each flotation zone is equipped with an independent pressurized micro air and ozone bubbles distribution system. A controlled amount of ozone can be injected into the wastewater along with recirculated effluent and micro-size air bubbles. Upon the release of pressurized air-ozone-water mixture, micro-size bubbles are generated and distributed in each flotation zone to effectively float up FOG and solid particles in the wastewater stream.

The subsea cable installation and recovery system may include a subsea cable transportation unit. The subsea cable transportation unit may include a base platform and a drive unit provided within the base platform. Additionally, a storage structure may be provided on the base platform and operationally coupled to the drive unit. The storage structure may be configured to receive a drum. At least one drive connection may be provided on a surface of the base platform. The at least one drive connection may be operationally coupled to the drive unit and configured to provide torque or hydraulics to operate the drive unit. The storage structure may be configured to rotate based on the torque or hydraulics and unspool or spool a cable wrapped around the drum. A stabilizing fin may extend outwardly from the base platform.
