  • Publication number: 20250010027
Abstract: Medical device assemblies (100, 300) are disclosed. The medical device assemblies include a body-insertable medical device (124) and a case (102, 302) for holding or storing the medical device before (and after) use, and a cap (110, 310) for sealing the device within the case. The assembly further includes a hydrating liquid (130) that contacts a portion of the medical device. The medical assembly is configured to allow drainage of residual liquid away from the cap and reduce the likelihood of spillage of the hydrating liquid upon opening of the case.

  • Publication number: 20240252784
Abstract: A urinary catheter assembly (10) having a folded, compact configuration and a straight ready to use configuration, having an outer tube (30) and an inner catheter tube (12), the inner catheter tube comprising a bendable region (24), the inner catheter tube and the outer tube being movable relative to one another so that a bending element of the bendable region of the inner catheter tube is moved into the lumen of the outer tube, thereby straightening the inner catheter tube so as to place the urinary catheter assembly into a straight ready to use configuration.

  • Patent number: 11642492
Abstract: A female urinary catheter deployment device includes a housing, an inner tip, an outer tip, a catheter, and an actuator. The outer tip is moved into the vicinity of the urethral opening of a female urethra. The outer tip is then moved from a closed condition to an open condition so as to expose a proximal end of the inner tip and position the proximal end of the inner tip within the urethra. The actuator is then moved with respect to the housing so as to proximally advance a proximal end of the catheter through and out of the proximal end of the inner tip and into the urethra. The proximal end of the catheter is further advanced through the urethra and into the bladder so as to drain urine from the bladder, through the catheter, and out of the housing.

  • Patent number: 11554038
Abstract: A urinary collection receptacle (10,50,650) with a handle seal (22,52,654) defining a handle opening is provided with one or more tear-controlling features to prevent a user from tearing through the handle seal when creating a spout to empty urine. The receptacle is be configured to require a user to create a generally linear tear (30) that extends from one edge (16) of the bag to the opposite edge (18) without passing through the handle seal. Alternatively a tear-stopping formation (62) is positioned adjacent to the handle seal to terminate a fear propagating toward the handle seal. Alternatively, a tear-starting formation (652) is positioned adjacent to the handle seal to direct a tear away from the handle seal. Such a receptacle further includes a frangible region that can be broken to dissociate a torn portion of the receptacle from the remainder of the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 11497887
Abstract: An intermittent urinary catheter assembly (20) comprises a catheter tube (22) having a proximal insertion end (24) and a distal end (26) remote from the proximal insertion end and a lumen (28) which extends from at or near the proximal insertion end to the distal end for draining urine from a human bladder. The intermittent urinary catheter assembly includes a urine discharge sleeve (34) associated with the discharge opening (30) of the catheter tube, and the urine discharge sleeve has a compact stowed configuration and is extendable into a deployed configuration for directing urine flow. Alternatively, an adapter assembly (50?) comprises a fitting or nipple (52?) having a urine passageway for insertion into a funnel (40?) associated with a urine discharge end of an intermittent urinary catheter, and a discharge funnel (42?) associated with the fitting or nipple, and an extendable urine discharge sleeve (34?) within the discharge funnel.
