  • Publication number: 20220226603
Abstract: Kits are provided for storing, transporting, and sterilizing reusable urinary catheters. A reusable urinary catheter stored within a housing of the kit may be sterilized between uses using a sterilization fluid or sterilizing light. If the reusable urinary catheter is sterilized using a sterilization fluid, the housing may include a manually actuated or electromechanical pump to circulate the sterilization fluid through the housing. The reusable urinary catheter may include a funnel secured to a catheter shaft, with a plurality of lateral openings defined in the funnel, which provide fluid communication between an interior of the funnel and an external surface of the catheter shaft. By allowing fluid communication between the interior of the funnel and the external surface of the catheter shaft, the lateral openings allow for fluid sterilization of both internal and external surfaces of the catheter shaft.

  • Patent number: 11008578
Abstract: A method for producing a transgenic plant includes providing a nucleic acid molecule comprising at least two regions of nucleic acid sequence that lack sequence homology with genomic DNA of the plant cell, and at least two zinc finger nuclease recognition sites, wherein the at least two regions of nucleic acid sequence that lack sequence homology with genomic DNA of the plant cell flank the at least two zinc finger nuclease recognition sites. A plant cell or tissue having the nucleic acid molecule stably integrated into the genome of the plant cell is transformed. A plant is regenerated from the plant cell. Transgenic plants are produced by the method. Seeds are produced by the transgenic plants.

  • Publication number: 20200391005
Abstract: A female urinary catheter deployment device includes a housing, an inner tip, an outer tip, a catheter, and an actuator. The outer tip is moved into the vicinity of the urethral opening of a female urethra. The outer tip is then moved from a closed condition to an open condition so as to expose a proximal end of the inner tip and position the proximal end of the inner tip within the urethra. The actuator is then moved with respect to the housing so as to proximally advance a proximal end of the catheter through and out of the proximal end of the inner tip and into the urethra. The proximal end of the catheter is further advanced through the urethra and into the bladder so as to drain urine from the bladder, through the catheter, and out of the housing.

Abstract: A urinary collection receptacle (10,50,650) with a handle seal (22,52,654) defining a handle opening is provided with one or more tear-controlling features to prevent a user from tearing through the handle seal when creating a spout to empty urine. The receptacle is be configured to require a user to create a generally linear tear (30) that extends from one edge (16) of the bag to the opposite edge (18) without passing through the handle seal. Alternatively a tear-stopping formation (62) is positioned adjacent to the handle seal to terminate a fear propagating toward the handle seal. Alternatively, a tear-starting formation (652) is positioned adjacent to the handle seal to direct a tear away from the handle seal. Such a receptacle further includes a frangible region that can be broken to dissociate a torn portion of the receptacle from the remainder of the receptacle.
