  • Publication number: 20190316628
Abstract: A mounting arrangement for coupling to a device having a pair of sockets includes a mount having a base, a ball, and a neck coupling the ball to the base; two device engagement units, each of the device engagement units having a receiving platform and a leg extending from the receiving platform, each of the legs of the two device engagement units having a male socket engagement element to engage one of the sockets of the device; and two fasteners to fasten the mount to the two device engagement units. The mounting arrangement is configured for the base to be received by, and fastened to, both of the receiving platforms of the two device engagement units and for the base to form a wedge pushing the male socket engagement elements into engagement with the sockets of the device to non-rotatably secure the mounting arrangement to the device.

  • Publication number: 20190315402
Abstract: A steerable vehicle suspension can include an axle, at least one retractor having a length that decreases in response to a pressure increase applied to the retractor, and at least one wheel spindle. Resistance to rotation of the wheel spindle relative to the axle increases in response to the pressure increase applied to the retractor. A method of operating a steerable vehicle suspension of a vehicle can include allowing steering knuckles rotatably mounted at opposite ends of an axle to rotate relative to the axle while the vehicle moves forward, and applying an inwardly directed force simultaneously to each of the steering knuckles. Another steerable vehicle suspension can include two rotatably mounted steering knuckles, and two retractors connected to the steering knuckles. An inwardly directed force is applied by each retractor to a respective one of the steering knuckles in response to pressure applied to the retractors.

  • Publication number: 20180072121
Abstract: A vehicle suspension system can include a trunnion tube positioned between two axles, and at least one spring set attached to the axles and rotatably attached to the trunnion tube. An outer diameter of the trunnion tube can be substantially equal to an outer diameter of the axles. In another example, two of the trunnion stands can be positioned entirely between two of the spring sets and welded to the trunnion tube. In yet another example, a ratio of a distance between axle centers to an outer diameter of the trunnion tube can be less than 11 to 1. In a further example, the trunnion tube and the axles may be made of a same material. In a still further example, a ratio of the outer diameter of the trunnion tube to a wall thickness of a bushing on the trunnion tube can be greater than 9 to 1.
