  • Patent number: 6666175
Abstract: A closed loop cooling water system for an internal combustion engine includes a radiator, an inlet line connecting the radiator to the internal combustion engine, a cooling water pump disposed in the inlet line, the cooling water pump having a suction side, a compensating tank, a compressor connected to the compensating tank, and a connecting line connecting the compensating tank to the inlet line on the suction side of the cooling water pump. The compressor supplies compressed air to the compensating tank to set the pressure level in the compensating tank. The pressure level in the compensating tank affects the pressure level on the suction side of the cooling water pump during operation.

  • Publication number: 20030014378
Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system for building a neural network is disclosed. The neural network predicts at least one target based upon predictor variables defined in a state space. First, an input data set is retrieved that includes the predictor variables and at least one target associated with the predictor variables for each observation. In the state space, a number of points is inserted in the state space based upon the values of the predictor variables. The number of points is less than the number of observations. A statistical measure is determined that describes a relationship between the observations and the inserted points. Weights and activation functions of the neural network are determined using the statistical measure.

  • Patent number: 6482185
Abstract: An injection device comprises a pen (10) with a syringe (13) to be emptied. The dose expelled from the syringe is set by means of a dose setting device (17). For people with an impaired vision, the setting of the dose is rather difficult. Therefore, an external display apparatus (30) is provided that may be set to the pen (10). Via contacts (21) and counter contacts (34), information about the dose is transmitted to the display apparatus (30) and shown on a large display (32).

  • Patent number: 6253725
Abstract: For an internal-combustion engine in a V-arrangement, a crankcase has a parallelepiped-shaped construction with a rectangular cross-section. The base side of the crankcase corresponds approximately to the lateral projection in the area of the cylinder heads. In addition, the crankcase has at least one chamber. Preferably, several chambers are provided corresponding to the number of cylinders of the internal-combustion engine. These chambers point from the longitudinal side of the crankcase into the interior. Auxiliary assemblies, heat exchangers, filters and oil supply spaces are arranged in these chambers.
