  • Patent number: 7510057
Abstract: A parking brake for a commercial vehicle equipped with an air-operated service brake is configured in such a way that the actuating energy for the brake is reduced in comparison to a configuration with a spring brake cylinder, while the installation space in the wheel area is minimized. Primary functional parts of the parking brake include an inner race and an outer race, which delimit an annular gap. Displaceable tapered-roller bearings are located in the annular gap. To adopt a release position in opposition to the action of a compression spring, the tapered roller bearings are disengaged from the conical surfaces of the inner race and the outer race.

  • Patent number: 7478888
Abstract: An electronic vehicle service braking system having at least one braking cylinder and a pressure control module with a control chamber and a working chamber. The working chamber is connected to an air supply via a supply line, the control chamber is connected to the air supply via a connecting line and an inlet valve and to the atmosphere via an outlet valve. The control chamber is also connected to a back-up braking system via a back-up line and a back-up valve, and a control system is provided for controlling at least the inlet valve and the back-up valve. The control system controls the valves such that the back-up valve is opened together with the inlet valve, enabling air to flow into the control chamber when an ABS signal for a rise in pressure follows a drop in pressure.

  • Publication number: 20080149437
Abstract: A method and system for automatic braking is described. A service brake which can be operated electrically with a compressed air pressure and a parking brake which can be operated electrically are provided. When the vehicle stops due to the service brake being applied, the service brake is released and the parking brake is applied as a function of a release criterion. The release criterion includes the parking brake not being applicable manually because of a defect, and the operation of a control element for application of the parking brake.

  • Patent number: 7309111
Abstract: The invention relates to a pressure medium-actuated brake system of a tractor-trailer combination comprising at least one first brake circuit and one second brake circuit. The inventive brake system contains a multiple-circuit braking power sensor, which is connected to a first compressed-air reservoir for the first brake circuit and to a second compressed-air reservoir for the second brake circuit. The brake system also contains an electronic controlling and regulating unit, a control valve device and a tractor protection valve, which can be brought into connection with at least one compressed-air reservoir and via which a brake pressure for a brake system of the trailer can be controlled. The invention provides that at least the multiple-circuit braking power sensor and the control device are placed in immediate proximity to one another and are combined to form a modular unit.

  • Publication number: 20070270006
Abstract: An electropneumatic central unit for a commercial vehicle is made up of modules with electrical and/or pneumatic components. The individual modules are arranged in module housings detachably connected to each other in a defined position, on which standard pneumatic connectors and electrical connectors are arranged such that, on connection of the module housings, corresponding connectors, arranged on opposing connection surfaces of the module housings, form direct mutual electrical and pneumatic connections.

  • Publication number: 20070251773
Abstract: A clamp device inserted between two parts can prevent a relative movement between a brake disc and a brake caliper of a vehicle brake. The device includes two plates, with adjustable separation by way of at least two rollers running against each other and rolling on roller surfaces on facing inner sides of the plates. When the rollers are located in the region of a first section of the roller surfaces, the separation of the plates for bringing about clamping in an extended state is greater than the separation adopted by the plates to generate clamping in a withdrawn state when the rollers are located in the region of a second section of the roller surfaces. The position of the rollers relative to the roller surfaces may be altered by an actuator.

  • Patent number: 7284802
Abstract: The invention relates to a motor vehicle comprising a compressed-air braking system. Said vehicle has two braking cylinders, which can be impinged by compressed-air from a compressed-air reserve by means of a manually actuated brake valve. The braking cylinders have ABS pressure-control valves, which can be selectively impinged by compressed air from the compressed-air reserve, using a slip control valve. A stability sensor detects a motor vehicle position and a control device selectively supplies the slip control valve and the ABS pressure-control valves with compressed air, in accordance with the signals of the stability sensor.
