  • Publication number: 20070150417
Abstract: A method and system for software license management that allows a user to easily move a software license from one computer to another and the software vendor to control unlicensed use. A server maintains user account information including computers licensed to run the software and computers no longer licensed to run the software. A computer is enabled to run the software in an initialization process, and re-enabled by the server from time to time in an automatic re-enable process. If a non-enabled computer attempts to run the software, the user is given a choice to acquire a new license for the computer, move the license from an existing licensed computer to the current computer, or exit. If a new license is bought or an existing license moved, the server updates the information of enabled and no-longer-enabled computers accordingly.

  • Publication number: 20070106065
Abstract: Surprisingly, the present inventors have discovered that expression of TAT-001 protein in human patients is associated with cancer, and that the overexpressed protein is present in plasma membrane fractions. Thus, the present inventors have discovered that TAT-001 is associated with abnormal development and growth, and may be useful as a target for the identification of anti-cancer compounds, including antibodies for use in immunotherapy. Accordingly, the present invention provides methods for the identification of compounds that inhibit TAT-001 expression or activity, comprising: contacting a candidate compound with a TAT-001 and detecting the presence or absence of binding between said compound and said TAT-001, or detecting a change in TAT-001 expression or activity.

  • Publication number: 20070100969
Abstract: A method and system for automatically configuring software distributed through a network. A server of the software vendor gathers certain information such as the user's name during a software download or purchase process, and generates a custom webpage containing software configuration information and/or a user id. The software being distributed includes an automatic configuration program. When the software is launched, the automatic configuration program finds the custom webpage and scrapes the necessary configuration information from it. The automatic configuration program then automatically configures the downloaded software using the configuration information. The automatic configuration program may also obtain additional configuration information from the server using the id contained in the custom webpage.

  • Publication number: 20070033269
Abstract: A computer-implemented method employs message windows in a functional bar (e.g., toolbar, status bar, address bar, task bar, etc.) embedded in a software program to display messages (including text, images, animation, video, audio, etc.), where the messages displayed in the windows are based on searches conducted by the user. The software program in which the windows are embedded may be a browser or non-browser application. The messages displayed in the windows are downloaded from a server connected to the computer. In one embodiment, the messages are downloaded when the computer is connected to the server and stored on the computer, and later displayed in the message windows when the computer is not connected to the server. The method can be used to display advertisement or to allow organizations to communicate with their constituents. The method allows advertisers and organizations to select subgroups of users to direct their messages to.

  • Publication number: 20060269944
Abstract: The present invention is directed to computer automated methods and systems for identifying and characterizing biomolecules in a biological sample. Mass spectrometry measurements are obtained on biomolecules in a sample. These measurements are analyzed to determine the abundance of the biomolecules in the sample, and the abundance measurements are coupled with one or more distinguishing characteristics of biomolecules they are associated with, thereby permitting computer-mediated comparison of abundances of biomolecules from multiple biological samples.

  • Publication number: 20060068026
Abstract: A method of making a colloidally stable suspension of naked metal nanocrystals includes the steps of: at least partly immersing a metallic sacrificial anode and a cathode into a body of essentially contaminant-free water, the metallic sacrificial anode that includes an essentially contaminant-free metal starting material for making nanocrystals; and applying a voltage potential across the anode and the cathode to form a colloidally stable suspension of naked metal nanocrystals composed essentially of metal from the metallic sacrificial anode.

  • Publication number: 20060063052
Abstract: An ion conducting membrane has a matrix including an ordered array of hollow channels and a nanocrystalline electrolyte contained within at least some or all of the channels. The channels have opposed open ends, and a channel width of 1000 nanometers or less, preferably 60 nanometers or less, and most preferably 10 nanometers or less. The channels may be aligned perpendicular to the matrix surface, and the length of the channels may be 10 nanometers to 1000 micrometers. The electrolyte has grain sizes of 100 nanometers or less, and preferably grain sizes of 1 to 50 nanometers. The electrolyte may include grains with a part of the grain boundaries aligned with inner walls of the channels to form a straight oriented grain-wall interface or the electrolyte may be a single crystal. In one form, the electrolyte conducts oxygen ions, the matrix is silica, and the electrolyte is yttrium doped zirconia.

  • Patent number: 7011245
Abstract: Parallel and reflective coding structures inclusive of data from both parties to a transaction are propagated beginning with an algorithm derived maker's code, an item code unique to and associated with a single article made by a maker, and data identifying both the maker and the legitimate acquirer. Use of secure hash algorithms, single and double key encryption are suggested to obtain two virtually irreversible parallel coding structures that reflect the identities of the current and previous owner and are also mathematically reflective in that one code is derivable by either code structure in verification of both authenticity and ownership. Multiple modes of verification with coding printed on a receipt for the article are provided including Internet, offline computer, land line and SMS cellular telephone. Authenticity, non-repudiation, proof of legitimate ownership and provenance are provided for any article of value including pharmaceuticals and other consumable product warranting authentification.

  • Publication number: 20050014850
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for making amorphous spherical particles of zirconium titanate and crystalline spherical particles of zirconium titanate comprising the steps of mixing an aqueous solution of zirconium salt and an aqueous solution of titanium salt into a mixed solution having equal moles of zirconium and titanium and having a total salt concentration in the range from 0.01 M to about 0.5 M. A stearic dispersant and an organic solvent is added to the mixed salt solution, subjecting the zirconium salt and the titanium salt in the mixed solution to a coprecipitation reaction forming a solution containing amorphous spherical particles of zirconium titanate wherein the volume ratio of the organic solvent to aqueous part is in the range from 1 to 5. The solution of amorphous spherical particles is incubated in an oven at a temperature ?100° C. for a period of time ?24 hours converting the amorphous particles to fine or ultrafine crystalline spherical particles of zirconium titanate.

  • Patent number: 6463541
Abstract: A binary code printed upon documents and articles includes: an origin code referring to pertinent data including category, creator identity, creation time; and an algorithm derived authentification code based upon the origin code. A world wide web (WWW) accessible registry provides authentification with input of the origin and authentification codes. A third ownership code possesses status which is similarly accessible. The authentification code is verified algorithmically from the origin code. Ownership code status indicates, at minimum, ‘home’ or ‘field’ for paper currency and ‘inventory’ or ‘sold’ for goods which status is only modifiable by authorized access. For suitable categories a secret code is available to the first purchaser after authorized release from inventory with WWW input of the printed origin and authentification binary code. This secret code is inaccessible without input of the full trinary code including the secret code.
