  • Publication number: 20240121330
Abstract: A foldable computing device may comprise a top housing assembly, a bottom housing assembly, and a flexible electrical inter-assembly coupling circuit. The top housing assembly may house a first subset of electrical component. The bottom housing assembly is mechanically coupled to the top housing assembly such that the top housing assembly is operable to cover, when closed, at least a portion of the bottom housing assembly. The bottom housing assembly may also house a second subset of the electrical components. The flexible electrical inter-assembly coupling circuit may electrically couple the first subset of the electrical components and the second subset of the electrical components. The flexible electrical intercoupling circuit configured may remain flat when the top housing assembly is open relative to the bottom housing assembly and flex when the top housing assembly is at least partially closed relative to the bottom housing assembly.

  • Publication number: 20230409081
Abstract: This document describes systems and techniques for narrow display borders using a display-to-frame interposer (“interposer”). In aspects, the interposer is bonded, on a first side, to a mechanical frame. On a second side, the interposer is bonded to a backside of a display panel module, including a folded portion, and supports a cover layer through the display panel module. In such a configuration, a display border, which extends from an edge of the cover layer to an active area of the display panel module and resides above the folded portion, can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20230413440
Abstract: Disclosed is a cavity-stacked printed circuit board (PCB) assembly that includes a first PCB formed of glass-reinforced epoxy material and has a first and a second side. The first side includes an open cavity with a cavity floor and at least one side wall that extends between the floor and the first side. The open cavity defines a cavity perimeter, which includes a base defined around the perimeter. The second PCB has a top side opposite a bottom side. The top side has an electrical component around which an interposer region is defined. Solder is disposed between the interposer region of the second PCB and the base of the first PCB to couple the first PCB to the second PCB with the electrical component received in the cavity to form the cavity-stacked PCB assembly.

  • Publication number: 20230396700
Abstract: This document describes systems and techniques directed at a multi-cut display-panel design enabling system integration into two or more end products. In aspects, a display panel includes a display panel body, having a pixel array and related electronics, as well as one or more border extensions disposed at least partially around a display border of the display panel body. The display panel further includes one or more cutting profiles to separate one or more borders extensions (or no border extensions) for integration in differently sized mounting structures of various electrical devices. Through these systems and techniques, a single display panel with a multi-cut design can be manufactured for integration within dissimilarly shaped electronic devices, saving costs associated with conventional manufacturing techniques, improving electronic device reliability, and antenna performance.

  • Patent number: 11782483
Abstract: This document describes systems and techniques directed at uniformly narrow display bezels in portable electronic devices. In aspects, a portable electronic device includes a housing that houses a display panel stack having a chamfered, polyhedral cover layer bonded to a top of a display module. The cover layer may include a large chamfer between a top face and a side face, defining a chamfered face extending a perimeter of the cover layer. The chamfered face may be angled any number of degrees in a range from one to eighty-nine degrees to a horizontal plane defined by the top face of the cover layer, such that the chamfered face possesses a front-facing portion. The chamfered face may be adhered to a parallel or subparallel interior face of the housing. In such a configuration, an opaque border added to a face opposite of the top face may be imperceptible to a user, resulting in uniformly narrow display bezels.
