  • Patent number: 5413052
Abstract: A plastic pallet has a twin sheet thermoformed upper deck reinforced with a tubular metal substrate. Injection molded plastic octagonal posts have support member walls which are positioned beneath reinforced portions of the top deck. The posts also have a sleeve with a central bolt hole which is parallel to the support member walls. A twin sheet thermoformed lower deck is spaced from the upper deck by the posts and receives the posts in recessed pockets. Plastic bolts are inserted through the top deck, each post, and the bottom deck and are held in place by plastic T-nuts. A sawtooth parting line in the twin-sheet thermoforming molds provide accurate alignment and molding of the pallet parts.

  • Patent number: 5351628
Abstract: A wooden upper deck is connected by two types of plastic spacer blocks to a wooden lower deck. The upper deck may be a conventional deck composed of stringers and slats or it may be a twin sheet thermoformed plastic deck. The lower deck is composed of stringers which underlie the plastic spacers and tie boards which abut the ends of the stringers. Connector spacer blocks serve both to join the upper deck to the lower deck and to connect the stringer boards to the tie boards. The stringers and tie boards are held in fixed relation by bolts which join the upper and lower decks passing through sockets in the spacer blocks. The stringers and the tie boards are bolted to the spacer blocks and are thus joined. The joint between the stringers and the tie boards may be strengthened by means of a metal link overlying the stringers and tie boards and linking the bolts together.

  • Patent number: 5329862
Abstract: A twin sheet thermoformed pallet upper deck has a reinforcing metal substrate and downwardly protruding detents which engage with a hoisting cable or strap. Notches are formed on the sides of the top deck and restrict the escape of the cable when the pallet is elevated. A twin sheet thermoformed, metal substrate reinforced, lower deck is bolted to the upper deck through injection molded plastic legs which have upper and lower protrusions which fit within semi-circular pockets located on the upper and lower decks. Fasteners extend through metal gusset plates welded to the upper and lower deck substrates to form a rigid and strong pallet.

  • Patent number: 5251342
Abstract: A portable toilet assembly has a twin-sheet thermoformed toilet tank, base, and urinal. The toilet tank has an upper thermoplastic sheet which is fused to a lower thermoplastic sheet. The toilet tank sheets are each coextruded from two thermoplastic materials of different colors, such that the toilet tank interior is a dark color and the exterior is a lighter color. Portions of the fused sheets extend outwardly from the tank and define flanges which can be used to attach the toilet tank to the toilet base and to the walls of a cabana. The toilet tank lower sheet has a downwardly extending pyramidal sump in which waste can accumulate. The base has a hole for receiving the toilet tank, a platform with downwardly extending sidewalls with outwardly extending ledges, and channels which extend through the sidewalls and ledges which allow flow of liquids from within the cabana and ventilation of noxious odors.

  • Patent number: 5049255
Abstract: In an oxygen sensing unit, an oxygen sensing cell with a closed outer end is encircled by a side wall of a protective shell or shield, and recessed from an open mouth of the shell. The cell and shell are mounted in a plug made up of a closure cap with an externally threaded section and a plug body with an internally threaded section complementary to the externally threaded section of the closure cap, the two parts of the plug cooperating to hold and compress the shell and cell, mediately or immediately, and permit the removal and replacement of the cell.

  • Patent number: 4953518
Abstract: An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve for controlling the amount of exhaust entering the intake manifold of an internal combustion engine. The EGR valve comprises a universal base so that a single base may fit many makes and models of vehicles, a diaphragm valve having two ports facing opposite directions protruding from the top of said valve, making connection of a vacuum hose to the EGR valve easier, and a back pressure transducer wherein the transducer has means to alter the vacuum required to close the valve.
