  • Patent number: 6299606
Abstract: A urine collection device for women has a bowl with sides that bow inwardly to provide a comfortable fit while minimizing spillage. The bowl has an aperture through which urine can pass to a removable specimen jar. An elongated handle extends from the front of the bowl, and is provided with fingergrips on its bottom edge. The device can be molded from plastic, permitting it to be sanitized and reused.

  • Patent number: 6110242
Abstract: An apparatus for separating solids, such as scrap material, from a gas such as an air stream. The apparatus includes a horizontally mounted outer cylinder or drum and an inner perforated cylindrical member is mounted concentrically within the drum to provide an annular space therebetween. High velocity air containing scrap material is delivered through one or more tangential inlets to the annular space and the heavy scrap material is thrown outwardly by centrifugal force along the inner surface of the drum and discharged through a tangential outlet, while the air passes inwardly through the perforated member and is discharged through an axial outlet in the drum. The scrap material being discharged from the separator is fed to the lower end of a closed, inclined auger and conveyed upwardly and discharged into a surge tube of a baler where the scrap is converted into bales.

  • Patent number: 5797147
Abstract: A urinal for men who cannot use a toilet or are otherwise incapacitated has a canister with a removable spout. A manual seal in the spout can be manipulated between open and closed positions by a trigger on the exterior of the spout, and locked into the open position by a releasable locking arm. A vertically-arranged opening in a dome seal attached to the spout helps prevent spillage in the event the urinal is knocked onto its side when the manual seal is locked open. The spout is attached to the canister by a releasable collar, and thus can be easily separated for cleaning.

  • Patent number: 5320069
Abstract: An improved small animal restraint device is provided which enables an inidual to conduct ocular examinations of a small animal. The device minimizes manipulation of the eyes of the animal and eliminates recovery time associated with anesthetics, while also reducing examination time. The restraint device comprises a cylinder having a longitudinal slot in the wall thereof. A conical member which is attached to one end of the cylinder includes a pair of eye openings in the upper wall thereof and a nose opening at the apex thereof. A plunger placed in the cylinder at the other end thereof assists in holding the animal in place. A set screw, which extends through the slot in the wall of the cylinder, secures the plunger in place.

  • Patent number: 5263654
Abstract: A pallet shredding apparatus comprising an inclined chute having an open upper end to receive pallets to be shredded and having an open lower end. The chute is moved in a reciprocating path of travel by a hydraulic cylinder unit. A stop is connected to the chute and is spaced from the lower end of the chute in a position to be engaged by the projecting end of the pallet. A pair of fixed blades are mounted in spaced relation and are adapted to be engaged by the projecting end of the pallet as the chute is moved to thereby shred the lower projecting end of the pallet.

  • Patent number: 4336614
Abstract: A tube-in-shell heat exchanger wherein the tube bundle has a central spine which carries a series of bracing grids for the tubes. The grids are resiliently mounted on the spine so that differential thermal expansion of one group of tubes relative to other groups of tubes and structure can be accommodated without inducing severe thermal stress.
