  • Patent number: 10118261
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a gear includes providing a rim gear, a hub and a core wherein the core is annular and has a core forging temperature below a hot hardness temperature of the rim gear and the hub. The rim gear and the hub are rotated about an axis relative to the core. During the relative rotation, the rim gear and the hub are in contact with the core to generate friction heat to raise an interface temperature of the core to the core forging temperature. The hub is driven into the core to upset a first portion of the core into an outer annular groove defined in a first faying surface of the hub. The rim gear is driven over the core to upset a second portion of the core into an inner annular groove defined in a second faying surface of the rim gear.

  • Patent number: 9468970
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a gear includes forming a bi-material billet from a steel cylinder having a cylindrical wall, a first end closed with a first steel cap, and an open second end distal to the first end. The method includes disposing a core material other than steel into the steel cylinder, welding a second steel cap onto the steel cylinder to form the bi-material billet, and heating the cylindrical wall. The method includes a first forging blow on the heated billet or on a disk-shaped rough forging forged from the heated billet with a first closed blocker die to produce a partial toothed preform, and a second forging blow on the preform with a second closed blocker die to produce a netshape gear. The first closed blocker die has a die cavity including gear tooth forms, and the partial toothed preform includes a plurality of spaced gear teeth.

  • Publication number: 20160087836
Abstract: It would be beneficial to allow one or more of information, applications, desktops, and in general any information to be shared between a computer and a communications device. For example, it would be useful to be able to move a presentation from a computer to a mobile communications device. Some solutions attempt to address this by requiring a user to load the information on a laptop, USB key, burn it to an optical disk or the like, and then “open” the information on another device located at the remote destination. In one embodiment, through the use of one or more of virtualization and content translation, any information and/or applications can be exchanged between a computer and a communications device. More specifically, one embodiment utilizes metadata in conjunction with a virtualization environment to allow the exchange of information and/or applications between a personal computer and a communications device, or vice versa.

  • Patent number: 8166821
Abstract: A method of maintaining a rod of a hydraulic cylinder for a motion compensation system of an offshore platform includes non-destructive testing of a metallic cladding deposited onto the rod. An inspection crawler includes a visual inspection device, an eddy current inspection device and an ultrasonic inspection device. The method includes rotating the visual inspection device, the eddy current inspection device and the ultrasonic inspection device around a circumference of the rod while moving the inspection crawler along a longitudinal axis of the rod to simultaneously collect data related to the metallic cladding from the visual inspection device, the eddy current inspection device and the ultrasonic inspection device. The data is analyzed to detect any discontinuities, i.e., defects, in the metallic cladding.

  • Patent number: 7492648
Abstract: A method for reducing defect leakage current in a semiconductor memory device comprising a plurality of memory banks, each memory bank comprising a plurality of memory arrays and sense amplifier columns comprising a plurality of sense amplifiers, wherein there is a sense amplifier column positioned between and shared by memory arrays on opposites thereof. At least one bank-specific isolation control signal is independently generated for each of the plurality of memory banks depending on existence and location of an anomalous bitline leakage in a memory bank. The at least one bank-specific isolation control signal is supplied to at least one sense amplifier column in the corresponding memory bank to isolate at least one side to at least one memory array that is in an unselected state in a corresponding memory bank.

  • Patent number: 7443751
Abstract: Multiplexer control logic is provided for a semiconductor memory device that combines the function of programmable disconnect-state with a dynamic or dynamic latching mode that operates during self-refresh. The programmable disconnect state disconnects the sense amplifier from a memory array segment when it is unselected. When a memory array segment is being accessed, (such as during self-refresh), the multiplexers are latched into a selected state thereby eliminating the multiplexer switching current while the memory array segment is being accessed.

  • Publication number: 20050052218
Abstract: Information concerning a condition of a fuse is stored in a latch circuit and may be corrected. A first signal is supplied to the latch circuit which sets the latch circuit in a first state when the fuse is in a first condition and keeps the latch circuit unchanged when the fuse is in a second condition. While the first signal is being supplied, a second signal is supplied to the latch circuit that keeps the latch circuit in the first state when the fuse is in the first condition and sets the latch circuit in a second state when the fuse is in the second condition.
