  • Patent number: 9594933
Abstract: A device includes a first reader capable of reading a seed value from an object, a second reader capable of accessing and retrieving an original value from a printed memory attached to the object, a memory in which is stored at least one authentication value, and a processor to generate an authentication value from the seed value, compare the authentication value to the seed value, and determine a status of the object.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: March 14, 2017
Assignee: PALO ALTO RESEARCH CENTER INCORPORATED
Inventors: Michael Kuniavsky, Paula M. Te, Shantanu Rane
  • Publication number: 20170032237
Abstract: An article includes a writeable memory printed on a substrate, a characteristic of the article usable to derive a seed value, and a value stored in the memory, wherein the value is generated by a hashing process using the seed value. The writeable memory may also be a readable memory, and may store more than one value.

  • Publication number: 20170032380
Abstract: A method includes printing a readable and writeable memory on an object, using a seed to generate an original value, writing the original value to the memory, and sending the object to a recipient. The method may also include receiving the object at the recipient, determining the seed from a characteristic of the object, generating an authentication value using the seed value, and comparing the authentication value and the original value.

  • Publication number: 20170032155
Abstract: A system includes a printed, writeable memory, an initiating computer, the initiating computer having a processor configured to execute instructions that cause the computer to generate an original value, and a memory interface to allow the computer to write the original value to the memory. The system also includes an object to which the printed, writeable memory is attached, the object having a characteristic usable to derive a seed, a reader device having at least one reader to read the original value from the memory, the reader device having at least one reader, the reader to retrieve the original value, and a recipient computer having a processor configured to execute code that causes the processor to generate an authentication value and compare the authentication value to the original value.

  • Publication number: 20140075575
Abstract: A method of operation of a content delivery system includes: compiling a detected device ensemble; detecting user information to develop a profile; and retrieving a content with an access level matching the profile and compatible with the detected device ensemble for displaying on a device.

  • Patent number: 8604908
Abstract: Logic is included in a piece of active storage furniture such that the active storage furniture integrates articles stored thereby into a representation of information about those articles. The logic includes (i) sensors to identify individual articles stored by the furniture and respective locations of the articles and (ii) display elements capable of incorporating selected individual ones of the articles as separate and individual components of a collective representation of information about the selected articles. In response to queries about the articles, the articles themselves are integrated into a representation of information about the articles. For example, a wine rack includes RFID and LEDs in each of a number of storage cells or cubbies and illuminates each cubby according to information about the wine stored in the cubby in response to a query for such information (e.g., show me all wine color-coded by region).

  • Publication number: 20110273278
Abstract: A system and method for transmitting information within a space, including sensory modules that each include a data signal receiver and an output element; a first signal emitter that emits a data signal of a first broadcast breadth that directs a signal with a first information set on the operation of the output element to a first portion of the space to a first sensory module within the first portion and a signal with a second information set on the operation of the output element to a second portion of the space to a second sensory module within the second portion; and a second signal emitter that emits a data signal of a second broadcast breadth larger than the first broadcast breadth with a third information set with information on the implementation of the first and second information sets to both the first and second portions of the space.
