  • Patent number: 8742778
Abstract: A system for testing the existing protection schemes of a power converter. The system simulates the voltage regulator producing a voltage level below an under-voltage threshold. The system simulates the voltage regulator producing a voltage level above an over-voltage threshold. The system simulates a short in the power converter pulling down the input bus. The system simulates a short in the power converter pulling down the output bus. • Patent number: 8556845
Abstract: There is provided a multiple-component tampon applicator formed from at least three separate components. A fingergrip having a reduced cross-section as compared to that of the barrel may be formed such that it is a separate component or is integrally formed with a barrel component. The reduced cross-section fingergrip provides exceptional grippability to the user. The multiple components may be formed from materials including, for example, biopolymer including starches and proteins, cardboard, heat shrink plastic, paper slurry, plastic, plastic tubing, pulp slurry, pulp-molded paper, or any combinations thereof. Prior to assembly of the applicator and prior to loading the barrel component with an absorbent pledget, petals may be formed on the insertion end of the barrel using existing processes and equipment. Alternatively, a separate insertion tip component having petals may be formed.

  • Publication number: 20130025123
Abstract: A method of working a vane assembly for a gas turbine engine involves a collar and an engine operated cooling baffle. The collar is connected to the cooling baffle and installed into the interior cavity of the vane assembly. A braze is applied to both a portion of the collar that interfaces with the cooling baffle and to a second portion of the collar that interfaces with the vane assembly. In one embodiment, the connection between the replacement collar and both the cooling baffle and vane assembly is accomplished by fitting the cooling baffle into the collar and by slipping a portion of the cooling baffle with a smaller cross-sectional area though the collar.

  • Publication number: 20130004320
Abstract: A method for forming a nozzle segment for a turbine stage of a gas turbine engine to a specific measurement range for a throat area. The nozzle segment comprising an inner platform, and outer platform, and a plurality of airfoils between the inner platform and outer platform. A requested throat area measurement is obtained for the nozzle segment, and a starting stacking angle for a plurality of through holes and pockets corresponding to the airfoils for both the inner platform and outer platform is selected, which are then machined. The airfoils, inner platform, and outer platform are assembled to form a vane segment that is machined to obtain a finished throat area. The finished throat area is measured, and a determination is made if the measured finish throat area complies with the requested throat area.
