  • Publication number: 20060239613
Abstract: An optical microresonator is formed as a microcylinder and a resonant waveguide on the microcylinder and having a plurality of spaced resonant elements such as circumferential ridges for optically coupling light from an optical source waveguide onto the microcylinder. The resonant elements have a spacing, height and angle to impart a desire polarization and bring in the polarization states into degenerancy. A coating could also be formed over the resonant waveguide and operative with the resonant waveguide and of a refractive index to bring any polarization states into degenerancy.

  • Publication number: 20060239614
Abstract: A coupled waveguide optical microresonator is formed from a plurality of microcylinders coupled together. Each microcylinder includes a resonant waveguide. At least one of the microcylinders is adapted to be positioned adjacent an optical source waveguide for optically coupling light from an optical source waveguide onto the resonant waveguide on the microcylinder. The microcylinders are coupled together at the resonant waveguides, which are mutually coupled. Any coupled fields add coherently with each other.

  • Publication number: 20060123689
Abstract: An improved fishing lure capable of presenting a unique visual impression by incorporation of a dichroic coating is disclosed. The dichroic coating provides a lure with unique visual properties including the appearance of having more than one color, especially when viewed from different angles or from transmitted to reflected light. The present invention thus provides a fishing lure incorporating dicrhoic coatings that transmit certain wavelengths of light, while reflecting others, thus creating an interference-effect similar to the iridescence observed in nature's fire opal, dragonfly wings and hummingbird feathers. The transmitted color is different than the reflected color, and when the light rays transmit straight through the glass they are less effected by refraction than when passing at an off axis angle, which make the light travel a greater distance through the glass. It is this distance that causes a color shift.

  • Patent number: 6980747
Abstract: An integrated, optically amplified receiver includes an optically pumped optical preamplifier for receiving, generally, wavelength division multiplexed optical communication signal over an optical communications line. A PIN photodetector receives the optical communication signal as a filtered demultiplexed signal from the optical preamplifier and converts the optical communication signal into an electrical communication signal. An amplifier circuit amplifies the electrical communication signal for digital retiming or demodulation. A housing or printed circuit card assembly contains the optical preamplifier, filter or demultiplexer, PIN photo detector and amplifier circuit as an integrated receiver unit.
