  • Patent number: 11711853
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may receive, during release from a radio access network (RAN), resource information associated with attaching to the RAN, wherein the resource information is received based on the device being authenticated. The UE may store the resource information in a data structure associated with the UE, and may receive, when the UE includes a payload of data packets to transmit to the RAN, a signal from the RAN. The UE may determine, based on the signal, whether the RAN is a same RAN that provided the resource information, and may determine whether a strength of the signal from the RAN satisfies a threshold when the RAN is the same RAN that provided the resource information. The UE may attach to the RAN when the strength of the signal satisfies the threshold, and may provide the payload to the RAN via a random access channel of the RAN.

  • Patent number: 11696355
Abstract: Systems and methods described herein improve a customer experience for non-standalone cellular networks by displaying a secondary cell group (SCG) network icon after data activity ends while a user device likely remains in SCG coverage. When connected to the SCG, the user device detects inactivity on the connection and initiates a first timer, based on the detecting, while continuing to present an SCG-related icon. If the first timer expires while the user device is in an idle state, the user device initiates a second timer, while continuing to present the SCG-related icon. If the user device detects an active connection before expiration of the second timer, the user device initiates a third timer while continuing to present the SCG-related icon. If the user device fails to detect a connection to the SCG before expiration of the third timer, a master cell group (MCG)-related icon is displayed.

  • Patent number: 11477728
Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide for a network-assisted determination by one or more User Equipment (“UEs”) to connect to a licensed network (e.g., a Fifth Generation (“5G”) radio access network (“RAN”)) in situations where both the licensed network and one or more unlicensed networks (e.g., one or more WiFi networks) are in range of the UE. Such connection to a licensed network (e.g., in lieu of an unlicensed network) may provide for better performance and/or access to resources not otherwise accessible via an unlicensed network.

  • Patent number: 10880714
Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a network control component, an enhanced subscriber profile identifier (E-SPID) associated with at least one machine type communications (MTC) user device from a home subscriber server (HSS). The method includes determining whether the E-SPID is in a first range of E-SPID values, wherein the first range of E-SPID values corresponds to a delay that exceeds a threshold, and interacting with a self-organizing network (SON) controller that interacts an operation administration maintenance (OAM) component to control and define a modified E-SPID based on network traffic and coverage in response to a determination that the E-SPID is in the first range of E-SPID values. The method further includes sending the modified E-SPID to at least one enhanced evolved node b (eNodeB) associated with the at least one MTC user device, wherein the at least one enhanced eNodeB is operable to perform access control and scheduling for the at least one MTC user device based on the E-SPID.
