  • Patent number: 9593434
Abstract: In a rotating disk reactor (1) for growing epitaxial layers on substrate (3), gas directed toward the substrates at different radial distances from the axis of rotation of the disk has substantially the same velocity. The gas directed toward portions of the disk remote from the axis (10a) may include a higher concentration of a reactant gas (4) than the gas directed toward portions of the disk close to the axis (10d), so that portions of the substrate surfaces at different distances from the axis (14) receive substantially the same amount of reactant gas (4) per unit area. A desirable flow pattern is achieved within the reactor while permitting uniform deposition and growth of epitaxial layers on the substrate.

  • Patent number: 9483235
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a novel solution that supports the separate compilation of host code and device code used within a heterogeneous programming environment. Embodiments of the present invention are operable to link device code embedded within multiple host object files using a separate device linking operation. Embodiments of the present invention may extract device code from their respective host object files and then linked them together to form linked device code. This linked device code may then be embedded back into a host object generated by embodiments of the present invention which may then be passed to a host linker to form a host executable file. As such, device code may be split into multiple files and then linked together to form a final executable file by embodiments of the present invention.

  • Patent number: 9448779
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for translating application programs written using a parallel programming model for execution on multi-core graphics processing unit (GPU) for execution by general purpose central processing unit (CPU). Portions of the application program that rely on specific features of the multi-core GPU are converted by a translator for execution by a general purpose CPU. The application program is partitioned into regions of synchronization independent instructions. The instructions are classified as convergent or divergent and divergent memory references that are shared between regions are replicated. Thread loops are inserted to ensure correct sharing of memory between various threads during execution by the general purpose CPU.

  • Publication number: 20160267035
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for augmenting routing resources. In one exemplary embodiment, a Thunderboltâ„¢ transceiver incorporates a Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) bus that supports hot-plugging and hot-unplugging of peripheral devices. Unfortunately, for various backward compatibility reasons, existing PCIe bus enumeration protocols can quickly exhaust the PCIe routing resources (for example, PCIe bus numbers) resulting in undesirable consequences (for example, crashes, dead connections, etc.) The present disclosure describes schemes for augmenting the pool of PCIe bus numbers and dynamically re-assigning PCIe bus numbers, so as to eliminate the aforementioned concerns.
