    Abstract: A terminal system having a terminal ground plate portion with a hump projecting therefrom is adapted to terminate an inner metallic shield of a high speed cable, the cable having an outer jacket and the inner metallic shield with a portion of the outer jacket removed to expose a portion of the metallic shield. The hump has a slot for receiving the cable at a location along the cable in registry with the exposed metallic shield thereof. With the metallic shield maintained in the slot, a solder connection is established between the metallic shield and the ground plate portion at the hump.

    Abstract: An electrical connector includes an elongated dielectric housing having a central body portion with a front face, a rear face and at least three rows of terminal-receiving passages extending therebetween and including a top row, a middle row and a bottom row. A plurality of terminals are received in the passages and include top terminals received in at least some of the passages in the top row, middle terminals received in at least some of the passages in the middle row and bottom terminals received in at least some of the passages in the bottom row. All of the terminals have forward contact portions and tail portions projecting rearwardly from the body portion beyond the rear face thereof. The tail portions of the middle terminals are longer than the tail portions of the top terminals. A wire management platform projects from the rear face of the central body portion and includes a first top surface at which the tail portions of the top terminals are juxtaposed.

    Abstract: A plurality of terminals are assembled into a housing of an electrical connector. The terminals initially are joined by a carrier strip. The housing has a plurality of terminal-receiving passages along with an insertion slot communicating with and spanning a plurality of the passages. The terminals are inserted into the insertion slot in an insertion direction. The terminals and carrier strip are moved transversely of the insertion direction. The terminals and carrier strip may be moved again generally parallel to the insertion direction until the terminals are positioned in the terminal-receiving passages. The carrier strip is removed from the terminals after the terminals are seated into their passages.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing a metal bonded abrasive product such as a saw or drill segment or bead for a diamond wire is provided. The method includes the steps of providing a mixture of the metal, in particulate form, and the abrasive particles, cold pressing the mixture to the desired final shape at a pressure in the range 320 to 1500 MPa to produce a cold pressed product at a temperature in the range 900 to 1300.degree. C. under conditions which inhibit degradation of the abrasive particles and the particulate metal. The product, after free sintering, will generally have a relatively high porosity, for example, a porosity of 10 to 25 percent by volume.

    Abstract: A method is disclosed for terminating the metallic shield of a high speed cable which includes an inner dielectric inside the metallic shield, as well as a system for effecting the method. At least a portion of the outer jacket of the cable is removed to expose a portion of the metallic shield. An insulating member is positioned between the metallic shield and the inner dielectric of the cable. The cable then is positioned on a conductive terminating member having a portion in registry with the exposed portion of the metallic shield outside the insulating member. The metallic shield is soldered to the portion of the terminating member, as the insulating member protects the inner dielectric from the heat of the soldering step.

The housing includes at least one mounting portion projecting generally parallel to the board in proximity to the surface thereof. A generally U-shaped hold-down clip has a bight portion spanning proximal ends of a pair of leg portions. The leg portions are configured for depending generally along opposite sides of the mounting portion of the housing, with feet portions at distal ends of the leg portions for surface mounting to the surface of the printed circuit board. A complementary interengaging retaining system is provided between the bight portion of the hold-down clip and the mounting portion of the housing for retaining the clip thereon.
