  • Patent number: 5580283
Abstract: An elongated connector includes an elongated dielectric housing having a longitudinal cavity defining a transverse insertion axis for axially receiving a plurality of terminal modules. A plurality of elongated terminal modules each include a longitudinal dielectric insert receivable in the cavity in a side-by-side array of modules. The inserts mount a plurality of terminals having portions projecting therefrom. Complementary interengaging latches are provided on opposite longitudinal sides of each insert of each terminal module for latching the modules in their side-by-side array at least against relative movement in a plane extending longitudinally of the modules and axially of the cavity. The latches are configured for latching interengagement regardless of the longitudinal orientation of any of the modules within the cavity.

  • Patent number: 5558542
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a dielectric housing mounting a plurality of terminals. Each terminal includes a blade portion terminating in a distal contact end formed by dual spaced-apart cantilevered spring arms with mutually opposing contact portions defining a conductor-receiving mouth therebetween. The spring arms are cantilevered at opposite edges of the blade portion and are offset on opposite sides of the blade portion. A plurality of passages are formed in the housing and into which the blade portions of the terminals project. Each passage includes opposing side walls generally parallel to the blade portion of the respective terminal in the passage. Each side wall includes a laterally outwardly offset portion to accommodate one of the offset spring arms at the distal contact end of the terminal.

  • Patent number: 5358428
Abstract: A shielded electrical connector is provided for interconnection to a multi-conductor cable. The connector includes an insulative housing having a front mating face and a rear conductor-receiving face. A conductive shell is disposed about at least a portion of the housing and has an aperture near the rear face of the housing. A pair of conductive shield halves enclose the rear conductor-receiving face of the housing and define a cavity extending rearward therefrom. The shield halves have hooks for engaging beneath portions of the shell proximate the aperture as the shield halves are rotated about the hooks to form the cavity. A fulcrum projection is operatively associated between the shield halves intermediate the front and rear ends thereof for pivoting the shield halves about the fulcrum projection as the shield halves are rotated about the hooks. Thus, the hooks are urged outwardly to positively engage the portions of the shell to assure an electrical connection between the shield halves and the shell.

  • Patent number: 4348711
Abstract: In previously proposed arrangements for charging an electret foil the electret charge implanted varies over the area of the foil. In order to promote more even charging of the foil, the method of the invention subjects the foil to a progressively increasing electric field. One form of apparatus used to carry out the method has rollers at progressively higher potentials and electric fields are applied across the foil between these rollers and a metallized layer on the rear face of the foil which is earthed by a roller.

  • Patent number: 4268325
Abstract: A magnetic glassy metal alloy sheet is annealed at elevated temperature in a first magnetic field oriented in a direction substantially normal to the plane of the sheet. A second anneal may be performed in a weaker magnetic field in a direction substantially normal to the first field to minimize AC hysteresis losses. The annealed magnetic glassy metal alloy sheet has improved soft magnetic properties such as low hysteresis losses and may be used for transformer cores and the like.
