Abstract: Described here are prosthetic systems, devices, and methods of use therefor. Generally, a prosthesis may be configured to set a resistance to rotation of a prosthetic joint based on a phase of gait. The prosthesis may include a first cylinder, a first piston slidable within the first cylinder, a fluid sump, and a fluid circuit. The fluid circuit may include a plurality of interconnected fluid channels having a unidirectional variable-resistance valve and a set of check valves that are configured to provide unidirectional flow through the valve during piston compression and extension.

Abstract: Disclosed is a process for creating an event prediction model that employs a data-driven approach for selecting the model's input data variables, which, in one embodiment, involves selecting initial data variables, obtaining a respective set of historical data values for each respective initial data variable, determining a respective difference metric that indicates the extent to which each initial data variable tends to be predictive of an event occurrence, filtering the initial data variables, applying one or more transformations to at least two initial data variables, obtaining a respective set of historical data values for each respective transformed data variable, determining a respective difference metric that indicates the extent to which each transformed data variable tends to be predictive of an event occurrence, filtering the transformed data variables, and using the filtered, transformed data variables as a basis for selecting the input variables of the event prediction model.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a method of managing an output power delivered by an antenna of a NFC apparatus includes: providing a matching circuit with a first tuning capacitive network coupled in series between a NFC controller and the antenna and with a second tuning capacitive network coupled to the NFC controller and the antenna and to a reference terminal, wherein the first or second tuning capacitive network has a variable capacitive value; determining tuning capacitive values of the first tuning capacitive networks to adjust a delivered output power at a desired level; and setting the tuning capacitive values of the first tuning capacitive network to the tuning capacitive values.

Abstract: Provided are systems and techniques for providing multiple perspectives during medical procedures. In one aspect, a method includes positioning a plurality of cannulas in a plurality of anatomical quadrants of a patient, inserting first and second surgical tools coupled to corresponding robotic arms into the respective cannulas. The method may include inserting an articulatable camera coupled to another robotic arm into another of the cannulas, where the articulatable camera is capable of showing a first view including the first surgical tool in a first anatomical quadrant and articulating to show a second view including the second surgical tool in a second anatomical quadrant. The method may further involve performing a surgical procedure in at least one of the first anatomical quadrant or the second anatomical quadrant.

This service may be for specific data sets or all data sets generated by the Data Producer. The M2M/IoT system may be configured to autonomously decide to start a Data Continuity Service for a data set of a Data Producer. The Data Producer may interact directly with an Aggregator SL to store its aggregated data set, and may also be configured to update and delete entries in this data set and start a data service on this aggregated data set. A Local SL may be configured to manage all interactions with an Aggregator SL, and the Local SL may be configured to retarget requests from the Data Producer to the Aggregator SL, including a request to start a data service on the aggregated data set.

Abstract: A tillage point for an agricultural implement includes a body extending in a lengthwise direction between a tip end and a retention end and in a vertical direction between an upper body surface and a lower body surface, where the body defines a retention slot between the upper and lower body surfaces. Additionally, the tillage point has a fin extending outwardly from the upper body surface in the vertical direction. The fin defines a height in the vertical direction between a base end of the fin positioned adjacent to the upper body surface of the body and a top end of the fin positioned opposite the base end. The fin further defines a lateral width between opposed lateral sides of the fin, where the lateral width of the fin tapers along at least a portion of the vertical height of the fin.

Abstract: Provided herein are antibacterial compounds, wherein the compounds in some embodiments have broad spectrum bioactivity. In various embodiments, the compounds act by inhibition of bacterial type 1 signal peptidase (SpsB), an essential protein in bacteria. Pharmaceutical compositions and methods for treatment using the compounds described herein are also provided.

Abstract: A gas turbine engine and method of starting, the gas turbine engine having a rotor comprising at least a shaft mounted compressor and turbine, with a casing surrounding the rotor. The method comprises an acceleration phase, a bowed-rotor cooling phase, during the acceleration, and a combustion phase. The bowed-rotor cooling phase comprises a time where the rotational speed of the rotor is maintained below a bowed-rotor threshold speed until a non-bowed condition is satisfied, wherein the air forced through the gas turbine engine cools the rotor. The combustion phase occurs after the bowed-rotor cooling phase and upon reaching the combustion speed, wherein fuel is supplied to the gas turbine engine is turned on.

Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for validating and supplementing emergency call information removing private information. A Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) receives an emergency (e.g., 911) call from a mobile device. Parts of the emergency call are processed to identify an emergency call location. Characteristics of the emergency call are combined with characteristics of other signals to identify an emergency call event, including an event location. The emergency call event is sent to the PSAP. Prior to receiving phase II data, and possibly even prior to receiving phase I data, the PSAP receives the event. The PSAP tailors dispatch of emergency resources responding to the emergency call based on characteristics of the event, including the event location. A privacy infrastructure spans signal ingestion, event detection, and event notification and protects the integrity of private information.

Abstract: An unobtrusive augmented reality (AR) system can be used to assist the wearer in every day interactions by projecting information from the contact lens display onto the retina of the wearer's eye. The unobtrusive augmented reality system includes a necklace and a contact lens display that are unobtrusive to the wearer and the wearer's surrounding environment. The necklace of the unobtrusive augmented reality system generates power and data for the contact lens displays. The necklace and contact lens display include conductive coils inductively coupled by a magnetic field. The inductive coupling allows data and power generated by the necklace to be transferred to the contact lens display. A projector in the contact lens display projects images generated from the data onto the retina of the wearers eye.

The first seating component includes a first table portion extending from the first seating component, and optionally also a first footrest. The seating system further includes a second seating component including a second table portion and defining a footrest. The seating components are independently convertible from a seating position to a table position. When both seating components are in the seating position, a continuous seating surface is formed. Abstract: Disclosed are several variations of a device that is capable of dispensing small amounts of paint. The disclosed device may be used as a paint tester and a tool to perform small touch up and repair jobs on painted surfaces. The device will come preloaded with a small amount of paint and an applicator. The packaging is designed to promote mixture of the colorant and application of such colorant to the applicator. The adherence of colorant to the applicator is designed to occur as a one step process, as a user is removing an applicator from its packaging so as to apply a small measure of colorant to a surface. The packaging is also designed to maximize convenience by providing for a clean and drip resistant deployment of paint and virtually eliminating cleanup.

Abstract: A system for recovering fat, oil and grease (FOG) from wastewater has multiple annular flotation zones in a concentric configuration surrounding a central column to create progressively increasing surface areas for FOG and solid particles flotation. Each flotation zone may be equipped with an independent pressurized micro air and/or ozone bubbles distribution system. The FOG is recovered in the first flotation zone without chemical additions. Coagulant and flocculant may be added in the second flotation zone to maximize removals of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), total suspended solids (TSS), and colloidal particulates and produce clear effluent. Magnesium chloride is added in the third flotation zone to remove phosphorus and to form struvite particulates that can be used as fertilizer. Since both organic loading and solid loading in the treated effluent are significantly reduced, poultry processing plants can more easily meet wastewater treatment plant discharge limits and avoid surcharges.
