  • Patent number: 11806953
Abstract: An assembly for forming a gas turbine engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a layup tool including a main body extending along a longitudinal axis and a flange extending radially from the main body, the flange defining an edge face slopes towards the main body to an axial face. At least one compression tool has a tool body having a first tool section and a second tool section extending transversely from the first tool section. The first tool section is translatable along a retention member in a first direction substantially perpendicular to the edge face such that relative movement causes the second tool section to apply a first compressive force on a composite article trapped between the axial face of the flange and the second tool section. A method of forming a gas turbine engine component is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10357925
Abstract: A composite article lay up comprising a first layer of resin impregnated fiber material and a second layer of resin impregnated fiber material. An open cell material is layered between the first layer and the second layer. The open cell material has no resin during a first stage of a resin cure cycle. The open cell material has passages configured to flow volatiles formed during the first stage of the resin cure cycle. The open cell material is configured to fill with the resin during a second stage of the resin cure cycle. The open cell material is configured to form an integral structure with the first layer and the second layer as part of the composite article at the completion of the resin cure cycle.

  • Patent number: 10260351
Abstract: An airfoil for a gas turbine engine includes a substrate and a sheath providing an edge. A cured adhesive secures the sheath to the substrate. The cured adhesive has a fillet that extends beyond the edge that includes a mechanically worked finished surface. A method of manufacturing the airfoil includes the steps of securing a sheath to a substrate with adhesive, curing the adhesive, and mechanically removing a portion of the adhesive extending beyond the sheath.

  • Patent number: 9900381
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of deploying a membership of nodes in a distributed computing system may comprise selecting nodes to be part of a membership of nodes; creating a membership task identifying a membership creator node as the node that is creating the membership and comprising a membership target identifying at least one node of the distributed computing system that is to become a member of the membership; and creating a beacon configured to send a create membership message to each identified node, the create membership message comprising at least an identity of the membership task and an identification of the membership. Upon receiving a response from a node in the membership target, the node from which the response was received may be removed from the beacon. The membership may be deployed when a response has been received from each of the nodes identified in the membership target.

  • Patent number: 9846704
Abstract: A cluster of nodes in a distributed file system may include; at least two namenodes, each coupled to a plurality of data nodes and each configured to store a state of a namespace of the cluster and each being configured to respond to a request from a client while other(s) of the namenodes are responding to other requests from other clients; and a coordination engine coupled to each of the namenodes. The coordination engine may be configured to receive proposals from the namenodes to change the state of the namespace by replicating, deleting and/or adding data blocks stored in the data nodes and to generate, in response, an ordered set of agreements that specifies an order in which the namenodes are to change the state of the namespace. The namenodes are configured to delay making changes thereto until after the ordered set of agreements is received from the coordination engine.
