  • Publication number: 20090287573
Abstract: A system and method for placing a live, interactive, product specific communication conduit on user desktops. A retailer, wholesaler, or any other type of provider of goods or services having a website describing one or more products selects specific products for which the retailer desires to enable direct communication with consumers. The display of the selected products on the retailer's website are marked with an identifiable label, for example, the text “Grab-It”. Consumers are enabled to drag and drop the display of the product to their desktop, creating an interactive icon (also referred to herein as a “satellite icon”.) The interactive icon supports two-way messaging between the retailer and the consumer. The retailer is enabled to push content regarding the selected content, for example, product specific advertising to the icon for display. The consumer is enabled to request information or periodic updates regarding the product through the icon.

  • Publication number: 20080194418
Abstract: Described herein are methods for the high-throughput discovery and genotyping of nucleotide polymorphisms in DNA, including single nucleotide polymorphism (SNPs) and short deletions and insertions. These methods take advantage of the fact that differences in DNA sequence result in the differential presence of restriction endonuclease digestion sites. Differences can be detected between individuals, or the relative presence detected in a population. Provided approaches involve isolation of short DNA fragments (“tags) near restriction endonuclease sites. The presence of one (or two) of these tags indicates that a site was present. Distinguishable labeling of tags from two individual or populations allows comparative presence of these sites to be assayed on a platform that employs a collection of nucleic acids. Other approaches depend on the differential presence of restriction endonuclease sites, but involve mixing genomic DNA from the two individuals.

  • Patent number: 7387397
Abstract: A vehicle backlit panel includes a base substrate, an electroluminescent element and an outer substrate. The electroluminescent element is disposed on one side of the base substrate. The outer substrate overlies the electroluminescent element. The outer substrate includes a translucent substrate portion having areas of different thicknesses as measured in a direction of illumination through the outer substrate to form a three-dimensional graphic image with a three-dimensional appearance resulting from different translucency levels of the areas of different thicknesses.

  • Patent number: 7159544
Abstract: An engine includes at least one cylinder bore having a cylinder wall and a piston positioned within the cylinder bore, and adapted for reciprocal movement therein. At least one piston sleeve is positioned within the cylinder bore, radially between the piston and the cylinder wall. The piston sleeve extends around the piston, and is adapted for reciprocal movement therein. The piston and the piston sleeve are able to move independently of one another. A stop selectively secures the piston sleeve stationary within the cylinder adjacent a top portion of the cylinder. When the stop is de-activated, the piston and the piston sleeve move together within the cylinder, and when the stop is activated, the piston sleeve is secured adjacent the top portion of the cylinder and the piston moves reciprocally within the piston sleeve.
