  • Publication number: 20060007901
Abstract: Systems and methods for defining and using a data collection profile in connection with a telecommunications network that includes multiple devices. Initially, a query is defined that concerns one or more aspects of the communications network. The query is then used as a basis for building a data collection profile. Next, a set of target devices is selected based upon criteria relating to the query. The data collection profile is then provided to the target devices which collect data in accordance with the data collection profile. Finally, the collected data is transmitted to a service platform for further processing.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 5, 2005
    Publication date: January 12, 2006

  • Patent number: 6920327
Abstract: A method for the transmission of data using radio transmission systems between transmitter/receiver stations is provided, and a computer for the allocation of radio transmission systems for the transmission of data between transmitter/receiver stations is provided, which serve to select radio transmission systems dynamically, for a communication from at least one transmitter/receiver station, on the basis of a subscriber profile, a location of the one transmitter/receiver station, and/or a speed of the transmitter/receiver station, in order to transmit data between transmitter/receiver stations. A computer in a switching device calculates which radio transmission system best meets the criteria. During a data transmission, it is possible to switch automatically to a further radio transmission system if the transmission quality of the radio transmission system currently being used declines.

  • Patent number: 6853915
Abstract: Data indicative of an instantaneous location, a destination and a route from the instantaneous location to the destination are transmitted from a motor vehicle navigation unit to a central unit. Traffic information about the route between the instantaneous location and the destination are transmitted from the control unit to the vehicle unit. The received traffic information data are used by the vehicle unit to determine a desirable route between the instantaneous location and the destination given the traffic information. The data of the route thus determined are made available to the vehicle driver, so that he is able to steer toward his desired destination along this specified route.

  • Publication number: 20020091486
Abstract: A vehicle route between an instantaneous location and a destination is calculated, such that data about the instantaneous location and the destination are determined in the vehicle as data (A) about the current route, traffic information data are delivered from a central traffic information data memory to a traffic network, the delivered traffic information data are used to calculate the route in the traffic network between the instantaneous location and the destination location, the data of the calculated route and the data about the current route are made available to the driver, characterized in that the data about the current route are transmitted from the vehicle to the central traffic information data memory, and, as the response to the transmission of data (A), traffic information data are delivered about the current route.

  • Patent number: 5467132
Abstract: For digital transmission of hierarchical HDTV, EDTV and SDTV television signals, on the transmission side after an analog/digital conversion of video and audio input signals and a subsequent removal of redundancy in a source coder, the signal bits are protected in a UEP coder in accordance with their significance. Thereafter, the hierarchically built up television signals (HDTV, EDTV and SDTV) are subjected to a multilevel coding and, combined to form symbols, to a multiresolution modulation and an OFD multiplexing and transmitted after digital/analog conversion. On the receiving side the transmitted signals, after analog/digital reconversion and inverse OED multiplexing (OFDM), are demodulated in a multiresolution demodulator and then decoded in a multistage decoder. Thereupon the data are processed by digital/analog conversion to HDTV, EDTV and SDTV signals in a UEP decoder specific to the respective receiver and a following source decoder.
