  • Patent number: 8862455
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to applying appropriate pluralization rules to text strings and to generating pluralization rules for multiple different languages. In an embodiment, a computer system identifies a user interface (UI) text string that includes a numerical amount for which an appropriate pluralization form is to be determined. The string is represented by a resource identifier (ID). The computer system receives an indication indicating which language the text string is to be displayed in and determines an appropriate resource ID from a set of pre-generated resource IDs based on the numerical amount and the determined language. The pre-generated resource IDs include various language-specific pluralization forms for localization of the text string. The computer system also returns the localized text string at the determined appropriate resource ID to the UI for display. In this manner, the localized text string is presented with the numerical amount and proper pluralization in the indicated language.

  • Publication number: 20140270510
Abstract: Methods, systems and processor-readable media for color balanced compression in dynamic range mistmatched color environments. An input L* can be compensated based on L*min in a destination space with respect to shadow colors while configuring a perceptual LUT during a profile phase. Input opponent color components a* and b* can be compressed based on how much L* is compensated to generate newly compressed L*a*b* values. The newly compressed L*a*b* values can be treated as an output L*a*b* to configure the perceptual LUT for color balanced compression thereof. Finally, an operation can be performed for recording in the output LUT, optimized CMYK values with respect to the output L*a*b* to configure the perceptual LUT in an ICC profile and result in the color balanced compression thereof.

  • Publication number: 20140268191
Abstract: Methods and systems for dynamically detecting and switching profiling configuration in digital rendering. A set of color patches utilized for profiling can be rendered via a calibration engine and the color patches can be measured via inline/offline spectrophotometer. A high-accuracy MFD model can be built based on measurement from the color patches. A set of measurement values for a set of CMYK color probes can be obtained directly from the measurement and/or by processing through a MFD model. A classifier can be configured to determine a toner set based on the predicted and/or measured Lab values. The profiling procedure then automatically sets up a parameter set for the corresponding toner set to build a color look-up table via an inversion and optimization function. A destination ICC profile can be built based on the color LUTs. The system can handle multiple toner sets and produce optimized color outcome for each toner set.

  • Patent number: 8661880
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention have the technical effect of automatically testing an overspeed protection system associated with multiple powerplant machines of a powerplant. An embodiment of the present invention may automatically test the overspeed protection system while at least one of the powerplant machines is in the process of shutting down. Another embodiment of the present invention may automatically test the overspeed protection system by adjusting the speed of a shaft while at least one of the powerplant machines operates at full-speed-no-load.

  • Patent number: 8582188
Abstract: A spot color rendering system and method that incorporates spot color press emulation color transformation to preserve spot color on a target rendering device. A spot color rendering option implemented in a graphical user interface can be selected in order to render the spot color via an intermediate emulation space. The spot color name calls can be first associated with a color value in an ICC profile connection space (PCS), as CIE L*a*b* or XYZ. A database relation of the spot color name with its associated PCS numerical value enables association of the name with the resultant color transformed output. Thereafter, a color transformation with respect to the spot color value can be performed in order to compute a color on an emulation press and then the color can be preserved to the target rendering device. Such an approach enables a color consistent rendering to the target rendering device similar to that of the emulation press.

  • Patent number: 8573786
Abstract: A projector for masking out one or more objects between the projector and a screen. The projector includes an image capture sensor configured to produce a captured screen image. The projector further includes a processing device configured to receive a video-in signal, create a masking image that corresponds to at least a portion of the captured screen image, and produce a video-out signal, wherein the video-out signal comprises a combination of the video-in signal and the masking image. A panel controller in the projector receives the video-out signal and causes at least one or more pixels of at least one panel to be closed based upon the masking image such that any objects positioned between the projector and the screen are masked from any light projected by the projector.

  • Publication number: 20130088728
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for imaging of spot colors within a document using a spot color editor is provided. The method includes determining a spot color formula, using a spot color editor, for providing a colorimetric match to a desired spot color in a print job, wherein the spot color is within a color space and the spot color formula includes colorant values for each color in the color space; printing a test image of the spot color with the determined spot color formula for analysis, wherein the color composition of the spot color test image is analyzed by a user to determine whether desired image quality is achieved; and determining an updated spot color formula for providing a colorimetric match to the desired spot color in the print job based on a received input, if the desired image quality is not achieved.

  • Patent number: 8368977
Abstract: A 4×4 LUT comprises a K to K LUT merged with a CMYK to CMYK LUT with values ranging from [0, 0, 0, 0] to [0, 0, 0, 255], said 4×4 LUT written to a known file format. A method for creating 4×4 look up tables (LUTs) uses the source and destination ICC profiles. A K to K LUT is built, a CMYK to CMYK LUT is built, the K to K LUT is merged with the CMYK to CMYK LUT, and the resulting LUT is written to a known file format. Such a process is important since it solves the issue of preserving K in a CMYK to CMYK transform while adding the performance improvement of a 4×4 LUT.
