Abstract: Described herein is a process for preparing butane-1,4-diol by catalytic hydrogenation of butyne-1,4-diol in a reaction zone with hydrogen in the presence of a heterogeneous hydrogenation catalyst, in which the content of at least one gas selected from CO and CH4 in the offgas stream is measured and the content of the gas measured in the offgas stream is used for closed-loop control of the hydrogenation.

Abstract: A process for activating a fixed catalyst bed is disclosed. The fixed catalyst bed includes monolithic shaped catalyst bodies or include monolithic shaped catalyst bodies including at a first metal selected from Ni, Fe, Co, Cu, Cr, Pt, Ag, Au and Pd, and a second component selected from Al, Zn and Si. The fixed catalyst bed, for activation, is treated with an aqueous base having a strength of not more than 3.5% by weight. The base is selected from alkali metal hydroxides, alkaline earth metal hydroxides and mixtures thereof. The fixed catalyst bed has a temperature gradient during the activation and the temperature differential between the coldest point in the fixed catalyst bed and the warmest point in the fixed catalyst bed is kept at not more than 50 K.

Abstract: Provided herein is a novel process for providing a fixed catalyst bed including doped structured shaped catalyst bodies, to a reactor including such a fixed catalyst bed installed in a fixed location, and to a use of the fixed catalyst beds and reactors thus obtained for hydrogenation reactions.

Abstract: A pneumatic vehicle tire is provided. The tire includes a tread, an inner surface lying opposite the tread, a self-sealing sealant and a sound-absorbing open-cell foam ring arranged inside the pneumatic vehicle tire. The foam ring is adhesively attached to the inner surface and adheres to the self-sealing sealant which is applied before the sound-absorbing open-cell foam ring is attached to the inner surface. The self-sealing sealant has, at least immediately after being applied, a tackiness required for an adhesive attachment of the sound-absorbing open-cell foam ring. A closed-cell material ring is arranged between the sound-absorbing foam ring and the self-sealing sealant to prevent a diffusion of the sealant into the open-cell foam ring. The closed-cell material ring effects an airtight condition.

The voice coils each may have two first winding ends connected to each other via a first electrical conducting path to form a parallel electrical circuit and two second winding ends connected to each other via a second electrical conducting path. The first electrical conducting path may be connected electrically to a first winding end of the secondary coil via a first electrical connecting path and via an additional first electrical connecting path, which may form a parallel circuit with the first electrical connecting path.

Abstract: A process for hydrogenating a hydrogenatable organic compound in a reactor including a fixed catalyst bed. The fixed catalyst bed includes monolithic shaped catalyst bodies having pores and/or channels. The catalyst bodies include at least one element selected from Ni, Fe, Co, Cu, Cr, Pt, Ag, Au, Pd, Mn, Re, Ru, Rh and Ir. The CO content in the gas phase within the reactor during hydrogenation is within a range from 0.1 to 10,000 ppm by volume. In any section in the normal plane to flow direction through the fixed catalyst bed, at least 90% of the pores and channels have an area of not more than 3 mm2.
