Abstract: This disclosure relates to a communication network within which devices participating in a communication session dynamically switch between sending media streams to a participating network device through one of multiple communication channel options. For instance, when establishing a communication session (e.g., a video conference), a sending network device establishes two potential communication channels with a receiving network device participating in the communication session. The sending network device determines which of the two potential communication channels is best suited for providing a media stream related to the communication session (e.g., an audio and/or video media stream), and assigns that communication channel as an active communication channel over which the sending network device provides the media stream to the receiving network device.

Abstract: A method for selectively muting a portion of a digital audio file has a user account that is associated to a PC device and is managed by a remote server. The system for executing the method has a set of playback modulation processes that enable the user to control how an audio file is played. The method begins by inputting the audio file into a splitter process in order to identify a set of distinct audio tracks. The method then identifies every word found in the audio file and synchronizes a textual transcript of the words with a timeline of the song. The user is then prompted to mute a desired track from the set of distinct audio tracks. Additionally, the user can select a desired process to further manipulate one or more distinct tracks from the set of distinct audio tracks.

Abstract: A system implementing a social paradigm for information technology (IT) services and social knowledge management in an IT environment. Physical and non-physical objects in the IT environment are represented by IT objects which are a type of social objects with social features. Each IT object has an activity stream for capturing communications, notifications, and knowledge related to the IT object. An activity stream manager may detect a change to an IT object, automatically generate a post, topic, or comment about the change, and place it in the activity stream of the IT object. For any IT object affected by the change, the activity stream manager may update an associated activity stream to reflect the change and may notify various users of the update in real time. A user interface is provided for the users to, among others, collaborate in the context of the change.

Abstract: A perspective management system configured for providing a perspective editor through which users in the IT environment can build perspectives. A perspective specifies a set of IT objects representing a portion of the IT environment that a user or a group of users care about. The perspective management system implements a social networking paradigm. As such, each IT object has an activity stream configured for capturing communications, notifications, and knowledge related to the IT object. Perspectives are themselves IT objects. Therefore, each perspective also has an activity stream. In response to a request from a client device such as for an impact analysis on a change, an incident, or a problem, the system constructs a graphical view for display on the client device showing a potential impact on objects in one or more of the perspectives involved.

Abstract: Multimedia files, such as audio programming, are currently available to Internet users through a combination of their personal computer, an optional portable digital audio player, and an Internet connection. Many audio programs are now currently distributed over the Internet in a syndicated form known as a “podcast”, allowing users to access the latest version or “episode” of the program. The disclosed systems and methods provide a convenient, publicly-accessible system for allocating and using dedicated phone numbers to enable access to these programs. A person can simply place a telephone call and listen to such syndicated or otherwise distributed audio programming through the telephone network without the use of a computer or portable digital audio player.

Telephone calls may be recorded at the discretion of the call participants and may be forwarded for posting on social networks.
